...My point is that it is not logical for the whole deal to fall apart because Haley wouldn't get behind promoting 'Undone' (and we don't know that is the case)...it isn't that simple. There has to be other reasons, all of which we have no clue what those reasons are. Maybe Jimmy Iovine had a bad day at the office, maybe the album didn't sell enough...maybe Randy Jackson got involved (we could use a villain in this story)?

At this stage...she still is the 'talent'. Her artistic abilities will shine through in the end...you can't take that away from her.

Indeed, this is all conjecture and with the THR article we get word of a "housecleaning" over at Interscope we might conclude that Jimmy was having a really bad day. Things are shaking up at the label.

If I recall correctly, even though she had a hand in writing it, it sounded like TPTB 'suggested' a 'type' of song they wanted to include in her album and sort of 'walked her through' writing this type of song, which became "Undone"

As if they said, "I think it would be really cool if LU had a ballad/heart break/torch song in it...what do you think?"

Remember Haley's reaction in that interview when it was first revealed to her "Undone's" popularity (even before it's inclusion in the movie). It was almost as if she was shocked that it was popular..."Really?"

"Undone"'s popularity among fans could even be traced further back. In my LA album debut vids back in May, when she told the crowd the next song would be a 'love song', you could hear the crowd yelling out "Undone"!!

Charity Events are in the Reinhart's blood, which is very respectable even if they can't really afford to offer their time free of charge. Yes Haley knows what she wants and how to get there (whether it's the right approach or not). I remember Patti saying that she & Harry were reviewing Haley's contracts before she signed the dotted line, so they offered their professional input.

I only used charity events as an example-probably because she'd just done a couple of them.What I really meant was-I'd hope that she should be able to want to do more events like Vegas or clubs where the focus of the event was on the music-as opposed to things like shopping malls-and well,charity events where the focus or purpose of her being there isn't on that-because honestly at this point I don't think that is the right approach.

And what I really meant was if she wants to start making it her own that's one of the things I'd hope she wants to be able to do.Its about her taking control of her own destiny more than anything else.

We also remember that her high school Jazz leader, Brian Logan, stated that when she first tried out to be the jazz vocalist, he gave her some sheet music to look over. As I recall, he stated that she crumbled it up. He remembers the incident fondly as if to say that she has a very determined view of things...

Not sure I agree with this interpretation. Reviewing the story (below), it sounds to me like he possibly thought she wasn't going to work out because she returned a few days later with the sheet music in a ball. He probably expected a young vocalist to have to refer to the sheet music while performing and was taken aback she hadn't been delicately handling it.

..."I thought, 'I'm listening to a veteran, not some kid. Who is this?' " Logan tracked Reinhart down a few days later and he invited her to sing with the school's well-regarded jazz band, which, he noted, doesn't always have a singer unless there happens to be a very decent one in the school who can handle the gig. But when she came back after a few days with the sheet music all crumpled up into a ball, he was wary, and before handing her the microphone he asked Haley to stand next to him and sing a bit with the band without amplifying her voice. "She sang for about eight seconds and I stopped the band, told her to grab the microphone and said, 'Let's do this for real,' " he explained. "She didn't have any music in front of her and she sang as well the first time as she did the last time."

I'm not sure I agree with your reinterpretation...

He is recalling the introduction to Haley and her becoming the jazz vocalist. He is not sharing the story because she was difficult or a show-off. He is not sharing the story to say she had memorized the music in a short time and proved it by putting it into a ball...as if to perform some music trick. I think the point he is making is that she already had an extensive background and probably knew the song they were going to play. She may not have liked the version he had on paper or didn't need to see it while singing, and hence crumpled it up to show that she could sing it with her own style and improvisation. This is the Haley we know...one who rarely does a song the same way twice. The one who hears a few notes and takes right off in the direction she wants to go. So play your piece and I'll show you how I interpret the vocals...JMHO, but it matches up with the Haley we know today.

How many of you now believe Haley was unsure. I think she is blues and jazz and it comes out of her like honey from the bees. She has known it all along.
