LOL count me in as one who loves mysteries and conspiracy theories, I can't help it.
While I do think labels do "house cleanings" (actually Wind-up did one earlier this year too), I do have to agree with the poster who suggested that on this particular occasion they dropped more acts than they usually would.
I'm no expert in how all this stuff works but it's believed that the Idols get much bigger advances than normal new artists because they are co-signed with 19 Recordings and they want their cut because they discovered them. The execption is if the Idols sign with a label that is outside UMG (which bound to their contract with 19R), eg: James, Stefano, Casey & Naima.
