Guess he won't be able to play guitar for a while, but that won't stop him from touring, someone else can take over for that.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler tells KARK 4 News that the accident report is not yet complete, but shared the following narrative from the trooper who was at the scene:
Jennifer Poynter exited I-40 (west) at Highway 365 about 6:20 PM, last night (Tuesday, January 1st).

As Poynter crossed over I-40 she collided with a vehicle driven by Kris Allen, who was attempting to merge from the Maumelle/Highway 365 interchange onto I-40 (west).

Poynter was issued a citation for careless driving.

That's a nasty looking crash. Glad that Kris and his wife are, besides a broken wrist and (I would imagine) a bruise or two, OK.

Modern cars have crumple zones designed to collapse so they absorb most of the impact. They were hit hard enough the airbags deployed. Fortunately, they were wearing their seat-belts too (if not, they might have gone through the windshield when the car abruptly stopped).

While I was waiting to catch the shuttle from New York (Carnegie) there was a collision that happened just out of my view (I heard the Impact).

A cab T-boned a city sweeper, flipped the sweeper onto it's side....The front of the cab was completely collapsed into the cab, but the passenger area was completely intact, no compression at all. The cab driver walked out with nary a scratch, just really confused. It was amazing how well that design worked and protected the driver
