Halien Party - Chicago, Labor Day weekend, 8-31-13

Babbs & Pennylane joined me at Potato Creek Johnny's Tonite to hear Harry play with his Blues band "Traffic Jam" with Kent the Midnight drummer and Jim on Bass. Before the show I chatted with Harry and said: "Was Haley and your family OK with the party?" He sarcastically replied with a smile "Yeah they were just OK with it" then with a poof/smirk said "No, they really Loved it!! Thanks" He also said that He & Haley both started being sick on thursday before BG Days and neither felt very well just before the concert but once they hit that first note adrenalin kicked in and carried them to the finish. And we know Haley said she was up until 5 AM that night also. He said they also didn't feel well Sunday for the parade and party. Which makes it even more amazing that Haley wanted to stay longer than they had planned. It also explains why she wasn't quite as overwhelmingly Luminous & Upbeat as normal for a situation like that. What a trooper!! I'm so proud of H.E.R. (and Harry...and all the Reinharts!)

I'll see the whole Midnight band tomorrow at PS Pub as I arrive late for the Luau after attending the Chicago Bears Game at Soldier Field. Sorry Buzz...hope the Minnesota Vikings start out 0-2.

It's great to hear that the Reinharts enjoyed the party as much as we all did! I wouldn't have guessed that Haley and Harry weren't feeling well, they looked like they were having a great time mingling with friends and Haliens.
Btw, my money is on the Bears, but my heart is rooting for the Vikings. Have fun at the game and Luau Himm.

I could tell Haley was off that day - I have a sense about people and can always tell pretty much how they feel inside if we're face to face. ( I know I know ) It's why I was trying to hang back away from her at the very beginning, I was trying to get a gauge on her. She didn't NOT want to be there, she just wanted it over fairly quickly at the beginning, I don't think she wanted to have to be "on". She never showed it in any way, she was so sweet and chatty with every one there. I agree she quickly felt at home, and could relax around us and her family and friends, and that helped her decide to stay longer than planned. She and her family really are troopers!!


On a side note: When I met Allison Iraheta on the Glamnation tour, something similar happened. I met her, I could tell something wasn't right with her, but she was pretty nice to me (not super nice, but she thanked me for coming over and signed my ticket and then made it clear I should move along). A few weeks later it was announced she was dropped by her label.

I guess I just put it to Haley having had alot of things to do back in her home town and wanting to be able to chill so didn't notice anything awry. That speaks to what a pro she is and that she really does appreciate her fans even though she was under the weather and no obligation to stay.

It also speaks to how well planned the event was organized by Himm2. I also feel a bit of pride that we behaved in such a way that she could feel comfortable enough around us to stay beyond whatever 'obligation' she might have felt.

Despite noticing something in her voice, her energy and vocal power were outstanding (at least it seems so in the youtube videos.) Amazing that she could do that while not feeling well, outside. She's just awesomesauce.

I could tell she wasn't feeling well because.... like NUG I also have the sense of how people are feeling and I knew something wasn't right especially during the M&G after the concert. But she still had a great time and loved being with us
