I have said that one of the things I'm thankful for discovering Haley is that she has inspired my creative side that seemed to come so easily in my youth. The hang ups of 'growing up' made 'inspiration' and creativity harder to access.

With Haley, it's been mostly visual, Sigs, TShirts and Calendars...

I sometimes get inspired in a poetic sense too. Miguel posted a bunch of beautiful photos in the graphic thread from Jessica Crans and I suddenly got the bug to write a quick poem... I then got on a roll and it became longer

Anyways, use this thread to post any type of inspirational or literary thought... Mostly poems or limericks (PG 13 and less plz) or Short stories (long stories should have their own threads).

So here's mine:

In celebration of Haley's 2 year AI anniversary

She floats up on the ether stream
This gift of stardust in a dream
A touch of Jazz, of Rock of Blues
From the voices of angels she takes her cues

To sing us a a song of Last Love's Lost
The emotional toll, but to stay at what cost?
To the Liverpool Lads she will always confess
The homage she holds, to her, they're the best

And what about that Rising Sun?
The song she sang, the hearts she won
On that night, when we all gathered round
and couldn't believe the soul in that sound

Texture that soothed, that sprang from her voice
All at once we did notice, we had no real choice
WTF? exclaimed all with certain dismay
What is this wonder we witnessed today?

And all at once they got to their feet
As the final notes faded, the song was complete
With a calm cool expression, the song she did slay
Now she turned to the judges to see what they'd say

Randy spewed his usual, his "Dude" and his "Yo"'s
As much from the Dawg, we can expect I suppose
Steve told Haley, with her rasp he related
With thirst for a song, sung so well, he was sated

And Finally JLo gave us her two cents,
She too was elated as the other two gents
A stake in the ground, with this song did she place
A Dark Horse has entered, Now we do have a race....

LOL I was originally going to just post the first four lines...then it took off.
I thought about doing a bit about each song on LU after the line about "Free"...aka "Last Love's Lost" (fun with alliteration ), but then it felt forced....so I let it go where it wanted..
I was just holding onto the leash seeing where it took me...
That's how my 'inspiration' goes, I can't force it, it comes and goes when it wants

I don't really rely on any 'formal' definition of poetry, I mostly was going for beat, rhythm and rhyme and some of the lines don't quite work... I'm sure poetry enthusiasts might be able to punch holes into it
Either way it was fun. The first four lines were inspired by those pics, this one specifically ...

Beautiful words, Tusk. You really captured the sentiments of Haley and AI Season 10 in rhythmic verse. I don’t think I will be contributing to this thread as I can barely put two sentences together. Haley’s power of inspiration needs something to work with first, but I do enjoy following the product of her inspiration.

I think we all have it in us to be creative, it's a matter discovering the medium of your creativity and of being able to 'access' it, like I said in my OP. I find that as we get older we're told what we 'can't' do more often than we're told what we are capable of. Over time, that takes it's toll. Ultimately, it's about finding something that makes you happy if not happiest, then becomes an outlet for more creative thought.

When I get on these creative rolls, it's similar to the endorphine rush some get after or during excercise. It's natural and stronger than caffeine.

So if you or anyone feels the need to express themselves through verse, or story or limerick (Haley 'oriented' would be appropriate ), there's now a place to do it

Almost two years ago, in the Caley thread @IDF, people started talking about Joseph Campbell's "Hero's Journey" and I came up with a synopsis of his archetypes as they relate to Haley's AI Journey

So I'd guess we could add this to the thread

Perfect though for the "Slayer" mythos. I don't know much about Campbell in regards to psychology and human sexuality but was a fan because I was into the mythologies of many cultures.

Haley's rise through AI follows Campbell's "Hero's Journey" almost to a T and am amazed I never made the connection until you, astute Haliens, brought it up.

-Her failure of season 9, reluctance to return for season 10 almost refusing the call to adventure.
-Aided by supernatural person to advance (S. Tyler?).
-Starting as an unknown/commoner, crossing the threshold into adventure and trasformation (Hangar, walk to learning she is in).
-Receiving magical aid or weapon (The Growl)
-Meeting a mentor/wise man who aids her intermitently on the way (Jimmy I)
-Meeting a companion who is a spiritual and psychological link to help overcome doubts and galvanises her self perception as something more than an ordinary person with ordinary goals (Casey)
-Constantly, by the skin of her teeth, escaping certain doom (Multiple bottom 3 appearance)
-Companion's sacrifice , saving her from yet another potential elimination. (Casey's elimination/save)
-Distracted, momentarily, from the quest by factors of dubios intentions (Stefano)
-Defeating of the monsters plagueing the populace (Randy and JLO)
-Despite her own elimination, she rises from the ashes like the Phoenix, becoming even more than she ever was. (The preternaturally amazing rendition of "Bennie" post elimination)


-Despite her assuming the mantle of fame and meta-mortality, she is supported by a growing mass of eclectic and varied (redundant?) fans who find themselves drawn to her quest. She has the compassion of a commoner but a future of a select few. She is a hero of the people.

If I didn't know better, George Lucas, would pick this story up as a follow up to his other Campbell inspired project, Star Wars.
