Those are a good two to be behind -- and I stand with you completely! Despite all of -- or, perhaps, because of all --the machinations that seem to be transpiring to see that there will be a woman AI winner this year -- it remains to be seen if it will work.
Like many, I didn't get it when Candice was cut last year, and I was suspicious of the reasons. But when I re-watched that Vegas group performance (with Jessica Sanchez and DeAndre) just 3-4 weeks ago, I got it. While vocally she held her own, she lacked the confidence/ presence that makes people pay attention. She's gained that in the past year, plus maybe adding a few more vocal tricks and definitely nuances. In the "truly musical" sense, Candice and Kree have it in spades, aces, diamonds , and hearts over the rest of them. How far that will take them, again, remains to be seen.
I still suspect a guy will win. I truly do hope that suspicion will be wrong!

I have rewatched it a few times. i was very surprised when Candice was cut . But your right MAE. Even though Candice was a good singer, Jessica did outshine her a little. So now she is more prepared and confident. We'll have to see where it takes her.

Candice is my favorite, too. However, I think I like her tone much better than JHud's. Candice is a pretty girl and the only thing she might try to emulate from Jennifer is Weight Watchers.  Today I would like to see Burrell and Candice in the finale but that is all subject to change as the season progresses.
If I could change anyone in the top 10 it would be Breanna for Janelle and with that said, I think I need to listen to a little HER...

Funny, I liked this format SOOOO much better !
But Now I understand why they do that suspense thing.. some people like it!
to each their own... I know you're coming from a good place about it 4ever
my preferences are just that personal preferences, but
I 'd actually prefer that they didn't have the kids on camera when they were announcing the results... I wouldn't enjoy being treated that way....but I guess that's where my mind goes.. how would I like to be treated and I get kind of mad when they make the contestants uncomfortable.
I guess I feel for them more than I want it exciting (or I feel their pain so much I can't enjoy the excitement...
I guess I know myself personally I'd get angry and give them a disdainful look of shame for their behavior if someone started taunting me with a treat dangled over my head.

I agree...was disappointed Breanna didn't make it. I thought she had the voice and the swagger.

Yea, I liked Breanna too. I'm hoping she's the one that got the 6th highest.
DeAndre and Jessica were my favorites last season, so I guess it makes sense that Candice would be my favorite this one. (LOVE that performance.)
As much as the judges loved him, I think it would have done DeAndre a world of good in the competition if he had gotten cut and tried again in a few years. I've always maintained that DeAndre's run on idol is what a 17 year old Haley's run on idol would have looked like.
Extremely talented..and natural and intelligent when it comes to music. But he basically did the equivalent of "que sera" about 3 times throughout the competition. It was almost like his knowledge of classic and unique music that hurt him. In the end though, it was his convictions that got him a record deal with a smaller label that seems really invested in him for the long term. So maybe he knows what's best anyway. I'd just be more like Jessica...you want to be yourself..but you want to stay in the competition as long as possible too. (Haley though, I think was likely always much more confident than DeAndre was.)
edit: if Janelle sings the way she did last night, she'll once again be my pick as winner.
