RE: American Idol 2013

The stage had been set for Haley's to bring the drama as well as her powerful singing. Regardless of how well another performer sings the song, the theater of Haley's performance made it a one shot deal that can't be matched.
Edit: Himm2 I think we're thinking along the same lines (I just saw your post). Haley and Candice definitely out sang Jordan on this song. Haley, however, truly had the fuel to emote after receiving such a tactless critique from Randy ( )... Can't wait for the Idology synopsis.

I liked all of them equally.
Jordin's had me crying from the first note - she brought a different meaning to the song.. almost like it was a Father that had forgot her and a child alone in the world.. very interesting and together... and moving
Haley sold the traditional intent of the song and her voice soared in a ballad diva sort of way much as it ever has (not that I hold ballads that highly) and of course she brought more to it in other musical ways.
Candaces was a new rendition, with some intesting and meaningful jazz choices and made it a little more current sort of song from a character that felt a bit more like an everyday person suddenly gifted with the muse than Haley's ... not that haley's wasn't authentic...but just more tied to the ballad mode and just more like a movie star than a girl you could actually meet int he world.
They were all good and I won't call who is "better" personally. Different enough and all artistic enough to be judged independently and they all get A's . (I might give the A plus to watching Jordin on tape and the A plus to hearing Haley on my earphones because.. Haley always has my favorite tone and I relate to her choices always)
