MAE, I agree with you about Angie. For some reason she just leaves me cold... Candice is the best with Kree not too far behind. Amber needs seasoning but she certainly knows how to rock an outfit, I love her style sense... Haven't picked up the phone to vote this season but I will if Candice makes it into the finale...

After being dragged out on stage for dissing Amber's song Jimmy's comment to the judges: "I think you guys are smoking a little bit of the that green icing on that MacArthur's Park cake because it was just so far from what she should be doing." "What you don't want to do is say that Candice was better on that particular round...." After Nikki agrees he adds "Well then say it."

When Nicki, n the midst of being effusive with her praise for Amber , accidently called her "Angie" I switched channels....

I'd had enough, "gawdawful" doesn't begin to describe those uninspired performances..... Yeesh.....

I didn't see the show live tonight, but did watch recordings of the performances and judges comments. Mostly. I looked because Twitter and comments on Idol-related sites indicated Candice and Kree were bussed tonight. To some extent, they were. But what they did to Haley was far worse. Because they prefaced their comments tonight with (paraphrasing): "Everyone is such a fantastic vocalist that I have to judge them on other matters at this point in the competition." Whereas with Haley they implied her vocal performances didn't measure up to the bar that others were setting.

Yeah I have a feeling that the judges knew that noone is getting eliminated tomorrow so were just warning Candice and Kree to get better next week. I expect the judges to go easy on them next week when the voting really counts.

I have a feeling that Mariah has the right words in her head but something happens to them on the way to her mouth.Actually last night she wasn't too bad-she showed that she can make a useful critique without using around 800 words to do it.

And honestly I have alot more respect for her opinions than I do Nicki's.As an artist she's been out there far longer than Nicki and knows more about actual singing than Nicki ever will. She gives the contestants feedback on technical things and dealing with other things that they have to deal with when they're on stage-she relates to them well.

Just a few observations on the long walk to the gallows...are we witnessing the death of Idol?

When I was young...OMG, it was the last century...we watched "professional" wrestling. All reality TV has genetic links to "professional" wrestling. Sorry, I had to use the Randy air quotes, but using them correctly. A Twin Cities mogul in broadcasting, Stanley Hubbard of Hubbard Broadcasting, stated that his first job in the '50s-'60s was working under the ring and mat for the locally produced "professional" wrestling TV show. I'm sure every metropolitan area had a locally produced "professional" wrestling TV show with it's own "world" champion who just happened to live right here in our local market...LOL. Anyway, Hubbard's job was to pound on the underside of the mat, hidden from camera of course, to let the wrestlers know it was time to end the match...we have to go to commercial now.

So what is the link to AI...well, you all have to be seeing the same thing I'm seeing in Season 12. AI cannot stop the procession that is heading for the beheading. The script has run it's course...and we all know this is scripted, just like the whole "professional" wrestling concept. It's made for TV, and why are we watching?...in the words of George Costanza, "because it's on TV!"

Nigel and his minions are desperately trying to safe the ship and they are willing to throw anyone overboard if that is what it takes. Talk about OTT this year...now that they are in full-bore reactive mode vs. setting the creative standard...in order to have a girl win, they stack the deck with good female singers and come up curiously short of one good-looking WGWG. Change the voting system to control the teen girl vote...we could have used this in Season 10...change the judges, but don't forget the controversy, and stay on script...Randy?

Did I miss the big emphasis on total number of votes this year? Has the standing O become as routine as Nikki touching her hair, Randy dawging his #InItToWinit, and Mariah showing the girls? Regurgitating the same old themes with a lack of anything current. Please tell me they have a coherent scheme to save Idol...because it just ain't working anymore.

Yes Buzz... The collapse of Idol won't be for the performances, but because of the crap that comes from the judging table and Jimmy Iovine's arrogant fork jabs. I was very pleased with all 4 gals and see them all having good professional careers. I think Amber is this season's Haley...blossoming into stardom. Kree may be this season's Philip Phillips -lacking charisma. Candace is this season's Mandisa/Ruben clone. Angie may be this season's Kelly Clarkson although she really is too unique to be compared to any other Idol.
And Tusk - I agree that when Nicki called Amber: Angie I fast forwarded thru ever time after when she opened her bizarre mouth.

There's a lot of problems with idol, and the sad thing is..they are all easily fixable.

First off, people watch idol for two reasons..the talent and the performances. With the exception of a few inspired song choices by Candice (Love Song, Straight Up...and maybe I'll give her "I who have Nothing" but it's been so overdone that I hate too..) the song choices have been pretty bad. And quite frankly, they've been pretty bad because of the themes. It's been like they are trying to kill idol.

Second, as much as I like the all female..I don't think the complaint was ever that men kept winning idol. The complaint was that mediocre white men kept winning idol. It was about the talent. If the past five idol winners had been David Cook, Adam Lambert, Casey James (he's not that great..but no one really was that season..) Scotty McCreery, and Joshua Ledet..there would be a lot less complaining. Sure..there would be some "wow a woman hasn't won idol in a while" comments..but those guys were top tier talent wise on their season.

Thus, the fact that they had poor male contestants this season did hurt. Because some people do prefer male voices better. It's simply that the quality of vocalist needed to be the same.

Second...look..disclaimer here...I'm with slezak, I like Nicki. I think she's smart and gives good advice. And I think she's right in that to make it in the music world..you need to have more than just vocal talent. And I absolutely love that she's all about female empowerment...It's nice to have a judge that'll openly root for the girls..and if she likes a guy because he's attractive say it. Instead of JLo's "But OMG Phillip and Stefano."

And I understand picking her to try and draw young viewers. But older people HATE her. And there's no chemistry with any of the judges. And older people watch the show...and now they've moved to the Voice with those charismatic likeable judges..where Shakira can be adorable, Usher can be swoon worthy, Adam can participate in self depricating humor, and Blake can be Blake.

Has idol announced next season yet? They usually announce auditions earlier in the show? I think they'll give it one more year...but the goal of the Voice was to just get rid of Idol or Xfactor...they may end up getting rid of both.

The contrast between the chemistry of the judges on The Voice versus Idol is stark. When I watch clips of The Voice I'm not cringing all the time or cursing the screen as when I watch Idol.
