Wow, I had no idea Scotty's parents were like that.

Makes me all the more proud that Scotty decided to make sure he had his senior year of high school experience and go to college in North Carolina. Seems he's a kid with the right priorities..even if his parents didn't have them.

American Idol Season 10's winner, Scotty McCreery, pleased fans with his first album almost 2 years ago and his new album just might be slated for October 15 of this year!

Back in June, we learned that the still-untitled sophomore album would be out in October, but now it seems we can mark our calendars for the big day. According to Hits Daily Double, October 15 will be the release day, just a week after Season 12 champ Candice Glover and The Voice's Cassadee Pope release their respective albums.

When the album was first announced, Scotty said he had already recorded 18 songs, but that not all would make the final project. "We've over-cut, which is so nice," he said, before doling out even more news.

"We're 90 percent sure that we've got a big-time singer that's going to come on this track with me," he said about a duet he cut during CMA Music Festival week. He also revealed that there will be at least one faith-based song on the album as well as a song he refers to as "Suntan" during live shows.

In the meantime, we'll be playing "See You Tonight" on repeat. We seriously cannot wait!

Scotty's sophomore album might be able to go gold without a hit song, but I don't think platinum is possible this time. See You Tonight is the best single he's released to date but it doesn't scream "smash hit" to me. Scotty (and every other non established artist) needs "that song" that will make them breakout and SYT just isn't it. Mercury Nashville has decided to relaunch SYT (which is currently struggling at radio). But because SYT isn't "that breakout song" that Scotty needs, I don't think relaunching it is gonna catapult it up the country charts. It would be better if they tried another single though that would cost the label more money.

Scotty is very similar to Adam Lambert in that he has a large dedicated Idol fanbase and can support a decent sized headlining tour but radio won't touch him with a 10 foot pole. The difference between the 2 is that Scotty is still young and has plenty of time to establish himself. Also most male country artists don't hit their stride until they reach their late 20s and unfortunately for Scotty Hunter Hayes is better looking and has better songs. I think Scotty can become a big name in country but not for another 5-8 years.

Lauren is gonna have a tougher time, country radio has become very anti female as of late, and I fully expect Scotty to outperform her again.

Scotty McCreery Reveals Sophomore Album Cover Art & Title, Confirms Release Date!



Fans helped unlock the cover art for Season 10 American Idol champ and rising country star Scotty McCreery‘s upcoming sophomore album today, and you can see it right above. The new picture shows Scotty gazing off into the distance while he’s sitting on a gravel road at night, leaning up against what appears to be a pretty beat up car (or, let’s face it, this being a country album, a pretty beat up truck!). A little more grown up than the album art for Clear As Day for obvious reasons. Could the imagery be tied to a specific song on his album? The cover art also reveals the title of Scotty’s sophomore album to be the same as its lead single, “See You Tonight,” which currently sits at #38 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and #40 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase airplay chart.

The official reveal site also confirms that, as Hits Daily Double reported almost 3 weeks ago, Scotty’s sophomore album will in fact come out 10/15, the same day as Pearl Jam, the Avett Brothers, Mary J. Blige, and Natalie Grant release new albums. Scotty may not get the all-genre #1 with Pearl Jam releasing a new record but he’s a good bet to land his 2nd #1 album on the Billboard Country Albums charts.

Wow. I'd expect more with Scotty. But it's not like he's been given proper promo either.

I'd say the promo he's gotten is pretty good. His problem is that his single is going nowhere. Hopefully the next single will be a hit and give the album some legs. But he needs to do a radio tour to try to get PDs to take him seriously. If you want to get to the point where radio will play anything you release you first gotta grovel (payola notwithstanding).
