Honestly, IMO..the #1 reason LU didn't become huge was single choice.

And that's fully on Interscope. They should have known that wasn't going to be a hit. And it was almost like they did know..because they didn't even give it a chance on Radio. So I don't understand how they expected her to have big sales. (Unless they were just relying on idol fans.)

Had her first single been "Oh My" IMO, Haley's still signed. And her album does significantly better.

Any tune of hers would have bin better than Free. IMO Spider web could have bin on the charts, but yeah Oh MY could have launched her album into the top40.That's ok Hales has another shot, and she has a little more experience of how things work.

Listen Up! has been pulled from online streaming services like Spotify ,Rdio, and Rhapsody :/ . Any speculation as to why?

I wonder if this might also affect all the Haley vids on youtube too?

A couple other points brought up on IDF to the question of why LU is being pulled from streaming sites:

I checked my Haley Reinhart Pandora station and they are still playing cuts off of "Listen Up"...so that is good news...

Regarding streaming services, I checked some online threads and basically it is the label's decision to not renew a license and perhaps thats the reason the CD was deleted from the service---because the license expired. Given "Listen Up" is going on its one year anniversary, and Interscope is no longer supporting it, I am guessing that the license expired and no one is there to renew it.
I am not sure the impact of Haley signing with a new label will have on "Listen Up"...it would be great if the rights could be repurchased under a new label with potential new singles, videos, etc, but I have no idea if that is possible

Songs are being remastered to be reintroduced at a later date, sometimes albums are pulled to prepare for a new release or like you stated licenses expire. I'm thinking that it may have something to do with Haley's publisher olemajorlyindie because all of the songs in which she has writing credit were pulled yet Free remains. Baby Its Cold Outside and all of her idol covers are still there also.

They say on the forums that often albums are pulled then reintroduced a few months later for whatever reason so hopefully that's the case here.

yeah, rights change; that's possible. maybe the rights were assigned back to 19r (or belonged to them all along). a push is less likely right now.

it's also possible interscope pulled it for some reason or another.

The new label might think that LU hasn't been out too long, relatively new, and believe in the songs that they want to see if they can do a better job than InterScope did. Promote a single or two (Oh MY and Undone)....then see where it goes.

The writing and recording are done, they would just have to promote it

That'll, then, give Haley time to fill her EP tracks out for a second full album to follow up on LU's second push...

In a few months she would have signed and it'll be a whole new ballgame and a whole new set of surprises in store for her fans
Too much to expect a tour after the announcement?

If we've learned anything, this Reinhart Shindig is anything but typical

Still crossing fingers on fall tour since that's still in play. Wish we knew what preconditions, events, need to be meet/happen for that to happen.

Makes sense, I'm hoping that's what it is. I'd love to see LU get some real promotion for a change, it never had a chance with Interscope calling the shots. Look at how much more exposure it has received since the split. It would also be cool for some vids, Oh My or Spiderweb or Undone would be nice.

Hey, have been lurking but haven't posted in ages! Hi all. Always fun to check out the posts each day.

Sadly, I think this will be the sticking point. All contracts are different, but I can tell you that my newest novel was just optioned for television. In the contract, there is a stipulation that if the production company decides at a later date not to film it, and another company should want to step in and buy the rights, they (or someone else, like myself) would have to reimburse the first company all the money they've outlaid in production. As you might imagine, that could be pricey!

I know that TV and the music industry are not the same, but I also know both are run by sharks. I hope Haley's contract had nothing like that in it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did...
