RE: Sundays in LA - Brenna Whitaker
Yanni, thanks so much for the vids and great to see all the other pics from the Halians out in LA... so jealous. After watching the typical Haley performances- so polished and amazing (as always) then following the twitter pics and vines vids it really struck me that Haley is really BORN TO PERFORM. You would think she is just going out for the eve with a pile of friends to a Jazz club and then BTW she performs 3 amazing songs like it is part of a typical evening out. No apparent nerves but the opposite...joy at the opportunity. Like she tweeted.. "feels like home".
It was fun listening to new vids but like others I am starving for audio without background noise and even more can't wait to hear new material. In the meantime, it was a great way to start Memorial Day!

The video of the "Oh My!" segment reminded me of MST3K. Really glad she got to perform it with some brass in front of music-minded folks.

RE: 5-26-13 -- Sunday Night Jazz at W Hotel Hollywood
Thanks very much yanni for recording and posting Haley’s show. Your camera work was superb. You really closed in on and captured Haley’s expressive face as she performed and also grooved to the musicians’ solos. The band looked like they had a lot of fun with Haley too. Also thanks to those for posting the vines and the LA Haliens for the “behind the scenes” footage.
I agree with Jastal, it always amazes me how Haley can sing so incredibly good as no other artist one minute and then be fun loving and down to earth as she is with her fans the next minute. You can tell Haley really loves her fans as much as she does her music.
Haley’s performance was amazing as always. A different flavor with the brass section which I wouldn’t mind becoming a fixture. I loved Haley’s “Since I Fell For You”, another cover that I listen to by other artists that I favor in this case the duet by Reba McEntire and Natalie Cole. Haley’s rendition, her tempo and the heart and passion she sings the song with, gave me goose bumps.

Yanni, thank you so much for the videos!! I was hoping against hope to see Oh My! with the brass section and thanks to you I did! And, man, was it ever worth it!! This has to be my favorite version of the song so far, what with the jazzy interpretation and horns a'blarin'. The song really seemed dance-worthy for the first time, having that propulsive rhythmic drive that it does. Yes, the crowd was loud, but that doesn't even take away from the pleasure for me. Even with all the (loud-mouth) chatter going on, I was still floored by Haley's vocals (right down to that good ol' chill down the spine feeling that Haley and very, very few other singers gives me). What I come away with, once again, is an unquenchable thirst for hearing Haley sing the standards in her singular way.

Rachel, thanks for the vines -- they were fun!
Yanni, thanks for the vids . I get your point about the sound. I struggle to understand why people would gather, even in a lounge setting, to meet and hear music and not SHUT UP and listen. (Granted this particular venue is not a concert hall, but it I were going there, it would be because there was something I wanted to hear -- although, maybe what this setting is really about is seeing and [mostly] being seen there).
It was great hearing Haley in this setting. Since I Fell for You was not a song that I knew was in her repertoire (maybe it had been before and I just haven't seen prior Youtubes versions), but it clearly fits into her jazz/blues wheelhouse and she does it exceedingly well.
It must have been fun for Haley to (finally) get to perform Oh My with a live horn section. Trying to set aside my partiality for brass/horns (not easily accomplished but possible), I recognize that the song springs to life with it. For most of the past year, my feelings about this song have been fairly ambivalent and completely driven by my own mood (if I'm in a peppier mood, I find it enjoyable; if I'm in a more reflective mood, I don't want to hear it).
But I now understand why Haley wanted it to be her second single. In fact, had it been her first single, she might have had her own "Call Me Maybe" with it.
