Last time the wired room internet was worse than dial up. I found excellent wifi next to the sportsbook, there's money involved, so makes sense their internet would be good.
They charge 'resort fees' now, that's not accounted for in the initial 'cost' of the room. It's for the 'free' internet, a newspaper and access to the pool and fitness center (over $16 at the Luxor per day)... It probably varies, but almost all hotels are charging a form of this fee nowadays..
