I recently travelled to Los Angeles to work with American Idol finalist Haley Reinhart (pictured), who released her debut album on Interscope last year.

We recorded the vocals for a cover version I’m producing for her of Alannah Myles’ classic “Black Velvet”.

We happened to be working in the former Epic Records studio, where Adele wrote and recorded her massive hit “Someone Like You”. It was very cool to sit down and play the beautiful Yamaha C7 piano that they used!

Midnight plays this song at just about every gig they do. "Black Velvet" & "Natures Way" are like their signature songs!:


Recorded in June of 2011. This is one of my favorite uploads from "MidnightTrafficJam". I've chatted with him a few times and he wonders how I manage to get so many views on my Youtube when he never gets too many. Love to see Angie dancing with her friends in front of mom & dad.

I can just about guarantee that it will be a song Haley performs at the BG Days concert with Midnight.

Alannah Myles suffered spinal damage from too many chiropractic treatments.

2011:

Alannah Myles stunned fans on July 1 when she was carried on stage at Woodbine Park and seated on a piano bench, two canes at her sides. The 52-year-old Grammy winner later explained that she suffered serious spinal damage after too many chiropractic treatments and is unable to move her head and neck.

...The injury is the latest setback for Myles, who recently told an interviewer she was left "bereft of funds" after selling millions of records. According to her website, she took an eight-year hiatus from the music business to "gain control of her creative assets." In January, Myles announced that she owns the copyright for "Black Velvet" and is licensing it for commercials, film and TV — typically lucrative for song owners — for the first time since its release.

This is going to sound incredible! I'm excited to hear it. I'd like to hear her cover "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. Then again, I'd like to hear her cover ANY song! :-)~

I think that is so cool that Haley recorded a cover song that her parents have played and loved for so long. It shows how they have influenced her and the music that she loves. Your kids really do watch and listen to what you do in life, so it is important to set a good example.

I can't wait to hear Haley's interpretation....
