Here's a little poem I jotted down for our dear Haley's birthday. I hope you enjoy it. It goes something like this:
23 Chapters (A Birthday Poem)
Rejoice this day, one and all, for among us
A beautiful soul turns the page of another year,
And readies her churning energies to
Advance through Life's great book.
Twenty-three chapters, filled with joy and a
Deep-felt love of Life, filled with music
And friendship and happiness
Beyond words, lies open before us all.
With youthful hands may the pages turn
With a lightness that defies the sometimes
Leaden parchment of disappointment, fear
And hatred that others may write.
Continue on, bright spirit, learn from the
Pages of heartache and move
Towards the lightness of a Life filled
With the countless memories you write.
Twenty-three chapters is only the start
Of a lengthy tale yet to be told.
Imagine what is yet to be written
Once this latest page settles and
The blank future waits to be filled.
