RE: Haley and Casey StageIt Performance - Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

Even if Haley is too sweet to really pull it off, the anger she put into the song (every time she looked at Randy?) was significantly more genuine that what Kat did. That, and Haley didn't destroy the melody. In Rewatching Haley's version, I definately agree and take back my semi-negative comment that was more directed at the Judges than to Haley:
Kat just threw in more gymnastic tricks. Kat also had a full week to prepare this one and only song. Haley had a Hometown Celebration and Rihannon & WI&WSNB to prepare in one week.
p.s. I think I recognize Harry Reinhart's voice yelling out after the judge's comments: "You're a winner Haley" from the audience.

RE: Haley and Casey StageIt Performance - Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013
It's been a beautiful fall week here in Baltimore. I love October. I took my dogs walking and listened to the Stageit show from the youtube on my iphone Mon and today. Even more astounded at the talent of these two artists!
When I first watched the Stageit Live--it's very exciting and wonderful. Loved every sec. But, I was trying to read chat and write on the chat and do some tipping and I didn't get a chance to really drink it all in. So, of course, I watched it again as soon as it was posted. And again, loved it even more--but I'm watching all their cute gestures and interactions and so forth.
However, just listening to the audio--brought me even a greater appreciation if that's possible. Because I was just concentrating on the singing and musicianship. I was hearing how they both would switch the harmony in the same song. Haley's vocals on Precious was out this world fantastic. Incredible. I loved this version of Ghosts from Casey. I was blown away when they were "trading" during HTRJ---Casey would do his improv part with the bass and then Haley would repeat it back. Too good.<3 I heard some banter that I didn't notice before. I love when Haley would say "whisper it" when they were deciding what song to do. I also get a kick when she kind of scolds him (in a nice & friendliest way tho--ha!) Cute! And their musical synergy, compatibility, chemistry-whatever the word is--just perfect. They are both old souls who may have knocked around this world together a time or two.
Thanks so much Tusk for the single vids of some of the songs. I'm going to try and download them from you tube and get them on my itunes. Unfortunately, I can't get them on my iphone cause my iphone and computer aren't syncing since I had to get a new hard drive.

I couldn't appreciate it live either as I was babysitting and recording, but working with the vids also gave me an appreciation for the audio of the performance. You really appreciate the depth of Casey's 'guitarmanship' during this session. I love his tempo and changes in "My Cake" and a sort of syncopation and rhythm.
You can really hear his Bass influence/sensibility influence the sounds coming from his guitar.
Haley, I love paying close attention to her vocals, how someone with 'rough' vocals can sound so silky smooth at the same time, textured yet velvety
Even her harmonies are heavenly. I like to listen to their "Stuck in London" to hear her lovely harmonies, her soft la laaas . Can't get enough listening to her singing, talking, laughing..... It was a great Stageit

Full video (probably missed first 10 seconds), recorded from actual stream.

Thanks Stairway..
I listened to the live show... but the volume was way too quiet for me ...even full volume at all sliders with my headphones on (so much better quality sound than 98% of computer speakers .. and usually louder than those speakers can go without distortion).
This recording let me play it louder than the live performance (whatever you or youtube did in the uploading process) . As you guy's may remember I almost always love the live recordings Yanni puts up .. he told me that he uses a free program called Handbrake to "web optimize" the video for youtube . I'm curious.. did you use something like that Stairway ?

After reading your post, I tried making the audio louder, and was getting a slight hiss/noise in the background due to amplification. Also, had trouble aligning the louder audio with video.
Maybe I'll try again, and if it's good, will post it on YT.
Hey Stairway.
I logged out for a week or so to make sure I gave myself a breather and didn't let any outside negative energy come in here. (I'll really try to make sure any hopes don't come off as contradictions or snipes with poor wording ) Lost my password !
I really meant to emphasize the thank you part.
Your video above was huge improvement over how I heard it on Stageit
AND like Tusk I was distracted during the show with duties cooking dinner.... so it was a jealous hunger for hearing Haley that you really satisfied
Like many of you others, I've had a chance to listen to the recording on my phone and really have the time to appreciate it.
I noticed that a lot of the volume issue was indeed at Stage-its end and the sound guy (forgot his name.. Haley and Casey so warmly brought him into the show.. never ignoring people in the room with them !) noticed it and moved the mics around.
It went way up about 14 minutes in so I actually had to turn my phone down to 80% .
I don't think you can do anymore. Youtube seems to limit the sound level (maybe for liabilty reasons.. people will sue for anything and they might not want to blow out kid's ears) after you get to the point you did.. or at least to the point it did 14 minutes in. Only problem is that setting the volume right for downloads has me blowing out my ears when It plays a recording I got from itunes or a cd !
.. I don't think doing it before the upload helps after a certain level. Don't tinker with it anymore.
Anway...
Thank you again.
----
Also... once again Haley seems so happy when around Casey. He's got some magic effect on women ... and maybe everyone.. his songs make me happy too (Edited something that sounded really weird .. meant to say I knew I wasn't a woman last time I checked ... ; ))
When she sung Wasted Tears with Casey I'm hearing the hope "the clouds are clear" as a much bigger focal point(on a bad day I can hear it as whiny).
Its not how loud but how much her voice glows in those sorts of moments for me. She glowed so frequently in their songs.
I also really took note of how caring and attentive Casey was in making sure to ask Haley exactly the rhytm she wanted to use before each song. Of course most performances aren't the place for that sort of informal banter but.. I found it interesting how important it was to him...that he adjust what he would do precisely to Haley's mood for the day.
(loved his cracks about forgetting where he was digging her lap-drum solo)
What a nice guy!
