So, perhaps these two become a professional duo? They're already joined at the hip. He's a talented creative goofball, she's just flat out for real. Her voice is over the top good. Of course, they are Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart.

They turn a song that I typically don't care for, into something I actually really like! This is really good. That song is "Sail" by Awolnation

Last year Cities 97 used a live performance of "Free" at Lord Fletcher's, a day before Lollapalooza, on their sampler CD

Well, Casey is back at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks Michigan on Sunday the 10th. It isn't far from Chicago.

Oh, and he needs a stand up bass.

Some random thoughts on Caley...

After spending some time with these videos (thanks Tusk!) I've really come to appreciate the synergism that is possible with these two. I'd love to see them perform together on a regular basis at least for a while and I'd love to see them try their hand at writing together (business complications aside). They have an obvious chemistry when they perform together and I think this has improved now that they both have more experience. If they were to do even a small tour I could could see their natural synergy yielding some exciting results.

Beyond that prospect I can see lots of advantages for Haley at this point. Casey is an excellent musician and they are quite capable of doing a full show with just the two of them. Casey also seems to have a number talented friends and associates that constitute a nice pool of potential band members or players for gigs. The touring of small venues that Casey has done seems to have polished his stage skills and I think it could do the same for Haley.

Casey and his buddies also bring talent with video and audio recording. The recent video of Stuck in London is a low budget homemade job, but it has professional production values. It is really well done. He has made some other decent videos although this recent one definitely raises the bar. Putting up videos can be a potentially powerful tool, particularly if they have the professional touch.

When they perform together Casey and Haley often resonate on the same frequency and magic occurs. Most recently they did a really cool job of reworking Sail. I think this resonance gives them the potential to create new songs together that are high quality.

Ultimately, I think that Casey and Haley represent a career opportunity to each other -- right now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I also agree with all of the above... together they have an energy that is really special. Casey seems to bring an extra spontaneity and joy to Haley's performance. Haley seems to soften some of the Casey's roughness (IMO) and his musicianship really shines.

I think they have everything to gain and nothing to loose by trying a short tour at small venues. I can only image what a stage-it like performance would evolve to, and can easily image the result being a live album.

Trivia: Is CeeLo Green a closet Halien? CeeLo & Christina Aguilera killed, in a bad way, "Baby Its Cold Outside" with a video last Christmas. This week he had Kat sing "Sail" on The Voice, soon after Caley sang it on Stageit. Perhaps CeeLo is a fan.
