Haley's username on Xanga was Disco Lemonade

Haley was 14 when she chose the username Disco Lemonade on Xanga (an early social network) in 2005.

The name apparently ties back to a song called Sex and Candy released in 1997 by Marcy Playground.

Newsday December 3, 1998:

AROUND THIS time last year, a small jewel of a song popped up on the radio. Amid the furor over Puff Daddy, techno and the supposed death of rock, Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy" was an understated poem about an over-caffeinated loner surprised to find himself flirting with an attractive woman. Though the song was folky, it sounded nothing like Jewel, and it became the longest-running No. 1 single ever on the modern rock charts.

It also introduced the catch phrase "disco lemonade" to the pop lexicon.

Its easy to see without looking to far that not much is really sacred on the internet anymore. Didn't Jewel go country?

One of the things people discovered in looking at Haley's Xanga account from 2005 was that her middle name may be "Elizabeth" and not "Marie."

In this videotaped encounter posted 8/13/11, she confirms it is "Elizabeth."



She also says, "Love my Haliens." Which might be the first time she has acknowledged a name for her following.

There didn't seem to be much verbal interaction, so both responses might have been made to signs that weren't visible in the video.

Thanks, but Haley has a lot of fans and others often unearth the material first. That was the case here with the Xanga page and grad party photo. I just added a bit of something new and tried to compile it all in readable fashion.
