RE: Haley Reinhart's funky a$$ reality project
Quite a back and forth today in Idol Forums on what’s next for Haley, and her approach to her career. But Himm2 apparently is privy to some pending big and good news for Haley…which is sweet music to my ears!
In reading the posts, I agree that I was one of those frustrated Haliens that last year wished and begged Haley would find an established band or form a band and hit the road. Look what she did at Buffalo Grove in just a week of preparation! She would blow the roof off of most small clubs and venues.
But as was noted, what was the point of hitting the road to promote a CD for a label that dropped her. Why do it if she is not promoting new music?. And, the gig with four guys and a van approach just does not appear to be her thing. And, there is nothing wrong with that. But, in the end, I just hope that she is getting good counsel and advice (legal, music, label, Ole) about next steps in her career. It appears as Himm2 noted that she is taking it slow and careful which is wise. And remember—she is ONLY 23!
I agree too with Himm2 that many fans wanted her to be Katy Perry or Pink right out of the gate, and that is so rare. Frankly, I am glad she is not a megastar, in the glare of the public eye so much. Most artists hit their stride after their second or third CDs. I just want Haley to find a way to stay in the music business, release a new CD every few years, continue to write songs, and tour when the time is right, playing mid size venues/nightclubs, and continue to build her fan base over the course of time. If she hits it big with a CD release or a Grammy winning song, that would be great too, but I just really want to see her continue to make great music and perform live for her fans for many, many years.

RE: Haley Reinhart's funky a$$ reality project
PJ has sent a few tweets his way....
I get tired of hearing myself having to defend Haley's decisions....especially when I try my best to be 'diplomatic' and not go on the offensive, realising that in the end, it would do nothing but reflect badly on me. That's why my posts end up being much longer than they already are....
Some will always see/speak the negative....
On the other hand, the waiting has been wearing on many of us, we should all be given sainthood how long we've persevered, with little news and performances to keep us going, so I understand the negative speculation some have made (Haley's making a mistake, she's given up, she 'choses' to not engage her fans ).
Camden made better, clearer retorts than my convoluted ones, thankfully.
Hopefully, soon, we can all leave that behind and enjoy what Haley's spent all this time creating, together

RE: Haley Reinhart's funky a$$ reality project
I replied as well, building off this part of Himm's response: "You may soon see 'Song written by Haley Reinhart' in the credits on an extremely famous singer's next album. "
My response: Quote:One of the Ole song camps was to create songs for Rihanna. Chad Richardson from Ole tweeted Haley and several other song camp attendees in late December that they were going to have a very good 2014. He wasn't wishing them a happy new year or talking about Ole. That may be an indication they placed a song.
I believe Haley is willing to follow the Sia model if that door is open to her -- write songs for big-name artists, collect huge royalties and use them to support yourself as you continue to create music you like for yourself.
She's had a taste of the income stream that comes from royalties because a half dozen songs from Listen Up! have been used for various purposes. I've stated on my site that I think Haley chose not to hit the road because she concluded her time and limited resources would be better used to make new recordings.
I don't know if another label is in Haley's future or not. She has been studying the music business and might have come to the conclusion -- especially given the lack of support she received from Interscope -- that it is better to be truly independent and collect nearly $1 for every song sold on iTunes instead of 16 cents.
If she does find another label to support her, I have no doubt Haley intends to tour this time. It will probably be written in stone.
Let me add…
It has probably been drilled into Haley by now that nothing major happens without a hit song.

RE: Haley Reinhart's funky a$$ reality project
That's the problem with passion, it could be uplifting and exhilarating, but if neglected it could easily turn to doubt and suspicion, even anger
Truthfully, there is a lot to wonder about why things are going the way they are, the way they have and why they are taking so long. Everybody sees Haley's talent and potential, so it's hard to justify that knowledge with the FACT that it's taken this long for ANY movement.
If we are honest with ourselves, without our bias, we would say this has taken a loooooong time, too long, longer than her talent warrants it should take. Her online profile has dropped precipitously to near non existence. Most of what I've posted 'in defense' has as much speculation in it as any other theory 'against' I move the facts I know to support my theory, so do they. Only Haley knows for sure, bottom line. So there's really no need to get too worked up about it.
I get that question asked of me alot, "So, what's going on with Haley?" by my friends and family. The more I hear the answers I give, the less conviction I say them with.... It takes ALOT of faith to stick it out as long as we have. That alone, makes me sure that Haley does very much appreciate those of us who are still here.
I think it's good to be able to ask questions even if they are not what everyone wants to hear. As long as the discourse doesn't degrade to name calling and making things personal, it's good to be able to talk things out IMO.
