I am having a moment of experiencing HATERS at their finest. My good friend/collaborator Haley Reinhart just released a new music video. I really love it. A lot of other people really love it, AND, a lot of people are just straight HATERS! Granted, since she was on American Idol and has a lot of "Fans" who want to see what they saw on television (and this video is certainly not that), they can't seem to wrap their heads around a person as talented as she is having multiple forms of expression. My call to the world, EXPRESS YOURSELF HOWEVER YOU WANT. Also, recognize that people like Haley have multiple "voices". Also, it's bringing up for me that not everyone has to love what you do. People WILL hate on you, even if you're just having fun. Lighten up world. We will be much better off when people START expressing themselves and stop judging each other for HOW they express themselves. Also, check out her video, its DOPE. Daniel Gutierrez

Featuring contact juggling, cyr wheel, and more hooping, of course, the video is her colorful and artistic interpretation of extraterrestrial contact, and perhaps a reference to her fans as well who are known as “Haliens”.

Wheeling's Haley Reinhart releases indiegogo-funded music video

Haley Reinhart is once again getting by with a little help from her fans.

The Wheeling native made it to the final three of “American Idol” in 2011 thanks to the fans who voted for her week after week on the Fox singing competition. And on Wednesday, Reinhart released a space-themed music video for her new song, “Show Me Your Moves,” which was made possible by her fans and the crowdfunding website Indiegogo.

Reinhart – who was released from her Interscope Records contract in 2012 and has yet to sign with another label – set out to raise $30,000 on Indiegogo to make the music video. The campaign exceeded her goal, raising $35,154 in a span of two months. Some of the incentives Reinhart offered in exchange for donations: A hand written lyrics for a $30, which 129 people took her up on, and a cameo in the video, which four people took her up on.

“I know a lot of people have been very successful on those things,” Reinhart said over the phone Wednesday. “I really had no idea how it would pan out. This was the first time I completely did something on my own. I ran the site, made up the perks and am still sending things out to people.”

In the video, Reinhart plays a hip-shaking, face paint-wearing alien who is on a mission to get everyone to dance. The video features a cameo from fellow “Idol” alum Casey Abrams.

“I brought the song to a buddy (Danni G.) who told me ‘We should do a music video for this – maybe a B-boy, break-dancing type thing.’ “ Reinhart said. “That branched out into super galactic craziness. I give him a lot of credit. He has a lot of friends that are world class dancers.We utilized that and tapped into the festival scene with a lot of really funky and space-y clothes and tribal painting. I figure this is my time to be as creative and free as I want. I took advantage of my not being with a major label.”

And when does Reinhart expect to sign with a label and release her next album?

“I have several different deals on the table,” Reinhart said. “It’s still a little bit up in the air. I have so much material written from the past year and a half. I would like to say (an album) is not too far off, but it’s about getting the right deal and building a team up for the second chapter.
