RE: Casey and Haley and (?) at Room 5 on Monday 3-31-14

She gets the subtleties of a trumpet solo just right and made it truly soulful. I also have to say that guy playing with them (sorry, I missed his name) is a real multi-talent. And anyone who also plays trombone is always alright with me (I play too). Bring on the next one, buddy. We still have to see your vid of Cry Me a River.
Midnight, you can add me to the list of your current "eternally grateful" group! Even on my laptop, the sound was really good, which makes me want to hear on a much better sound system.
Indeed, Sir Swansteel, Miss Haley does an impressive version of a trumpet solo, even if I'm still put off by the phrase "hand trumpet." (And, as a fellow brass player, you should know exactly what I mean.)
I think Quinton is the name of the "mystery" piano/bone player. I think that I heard either Haley or Casey say that in one of the vids -- and, I think that is what LauraLiz said a couple weeks ago, when Casey made his "debut" with the Ginger Bread Band.

I think that you have to be impressed with the musicianship and the level of creativity that's on display on these videos. And to think this isn't even a working band really. They get together before hand and pick the tunes and then sketch out some ideas for arrangements and then go out and just let it happen. And they're having a blast doing it.
Its uncanny the sound that Haley gets on the blues solo.To me it still sounds like its going back and forth between trumpet and harmonica but, being Haley the sound is all her own.

kaypea, I am, indeed, impressed with the musicianship. And, as you pointed out, this isn't really a "working band." But as you and I both know, the better the musicianship, the less they need to be "rehearsed."
And there's something about Casey's musicianship that seems to be a magnet that really gifted, talented, skilled young musicians gravitate towards him. Not a bad place for Casey & Haley to be in.

And, as such, really good musicians seem to "gravitate" to Casey, which also isn't surprising. But Haley would be wise, if not looking at her parents band, then to work with Casey in finding her "team."
Haley and Casey may be on the cusp (or may already know) what some of us have been suggesting for awhile. Only they know ... Sigh again ....
It is interesting that the new song-"You Were There"- is the first original song that they've done together that hadn't been done previously by either of them individually.Everything previously was either from his album or hers or something that she wrote. And I think its a great song and it would be too bad of they didn't do a good studio recording of it.
As far as anything else-I don't know-Casey is such a free spirit and Haley,I'm sure for now, has other things that she wants to focus on( like this video). We should probably just feel grateful that they both live in the same town.not to mention how obvious it is that they enjoy playing together.

RE: Haley Reinhart's funky a$$ reality project
Note from Miguel: The post below and a few replies were moved from the HFARP thread.
can she keep it up and get more money for the video the remaining 14 days?
I'm one who doesn't want to see them form a duo. Mostly because I'm selfish..and although I like Casey..I want Haley to sing the whole song. (nothing against Casey..it wouldn't matter who Haley was singing with, I'd want Haley to sing the whole song.)
But I do like the idea of them collaborating often. That seems to be a something that has really become popular amongst musicians currently..and also has an old school feel to it. I just like the sense of musical community attached.
A tour together would be great. A few songs..great. But I wouldn't want them to be a permanent duo. (Unless Casey is the instrumentalist and Haley is the vocalist..and they become like those old school classic rock bromances between the lead vocalist and lead guitarist..that would be cool too.)
