Ole signs Haley to New Worldwide Deal! New EP!

Wait? Is that why it's taking so long..did they decide to go with an Album? I'll happily wait a little longer for more Haley songs.

I'm more than willing to wait longer if that means we're getting a full length LP. But, why wouldn't they tells us that if that's the case?

UNLESS, what Haley meant was the single and EP are coming out (soon), and then while the EP is out, Haley will continue recording more songs that'll eventually be combined with the EP to make a full length album. But then again if that were the case why even bother with the EP?? I don't know

Melanie Martinez did that. She had a four song EP, and then when she came out with her album, she had 16 songs on it but 2 of them were from the EP.

I know she's recorded at least 10 songs and I've heard most of the other Santorini Camp ones that weren't recorded in Michael Jackson's WestLake Studio back in late February with Harry on Guitar. They were trying to decide on which 6 would make the EP. I think there are well over a dozen new songs suitable for publishing so it sure would be great if the EP was expanded to a full CD album but I haven't heard that it was a possibility.

I know it's wishful thinking, but it's entirely possible, but...

Haley and Ole signed a new deal almost a year ago in October of last year. That was when we still saw no direction, she dabbled w/ the human experience and his 'out there' trek from festival to festival, she was used as a back ground vocalist for some duo that had grander aspirations that they ended up breaking up before their iTunes featuring Haley in the background, even came out

So when Ole re-signed Haley, that's what they had to go on, as far as 'real time' presence as an up and coming musical entity (other than her small but loud fan base who kept a decent place footing on the internet, despite very little to work with, we kept the conversation and 'interest' flickering )

So when Ole signed the deal w/ Haley almost a year ago, all they had were the songs she wrote and the sense that she had INCREDIBLE potential that needed the right scenario to tap....

Fast Forward to a fledgling internet 'act' that started getting some notice. Before long Haley had joined up, just as PMJ's meteoric rise started to really get going. She became PMJ's 'rocket boost'..... Sure PMJ was doing very well on it's own, guided by it's conductor who was tired of waiting for opportunity to happen, he took his idea of groundswell support and hunger for 'real' music into action. Scott combined his own mastery of melody and keyboard acumen with a motley crew of talented, enthusiastic and upbeat artists to create something irresistible. The magic worked, through word of mouth, and showing how adept he was with working social media, he saw his baby, PMJ, grow to unimaginable size and so quickly.... Quickly? maybe because along the way, he got a hold of some of that Reinhart 'stuff', just add to your tank, and hold on, here we go

Although PMJ is filled to the brim with exceptional talent and personalities, there was no doubt that Haley took PMJ to a higher level (w/ a little assist from that 'built in' fan base that had been growing, providing a new revenue source as well as for ways for new fans from PMJ to find out more about Haley, her performances)

Haley had immediate impact through her videos and even in the PMJ shows where demand for Haley was becoming more and more apparent. Not only did the remaining fan base finally have the opportunity to hear Haley live near them, but PMJ, as a platform and it's success w/ Haley, start waking up the 'dormant' fans, those who found other distractions than to whether the 'bad times'. As popular as PMJ was getting on it's own volition, the boost of the #Halien desire to hear Haley (even buying tickets before knowing she'll be at their show), their collaboration, saw both enjoy spectacular success in such a short period of time (Habits debuted in February), to the point that PMJ is now circulating the globe to sold out shows, on the verge of splitting into two troupes...

So.... I'm fairly sure, this has not gone unnoticed by Ole, who have been fairly passive as far as their activity with Haley. Rather putting their energies (at least social media wise) into promoting Rush and some of their newer acts like Dorr and Ortega. Again, the small but vocal and motivated fan base was doing much of the Haley promotion for them. That was good enough for them as they worked to sell some of Haley's songs, bringing in income for her as well as her EP.

Back to this...

I know it's wishful thinking, but it's entirely possible, but...

Back in October, when there didn't appear to be much on the horizon other than her association w/ Ole, Haley and Ole signed a contract to do an EP. MUCH has changed since then, with little effort from Ole in the promotion department, Haley is many more times a marketable entity with a growing brand and name recognition. There is real opportunity here. Do they go forward with an EP that might release an EP, or do they reset their expectation of what Haley's capable of and how much they want to invest to get the maximum result?

Yeah, I know it's probably pipe dream and all this is just about 6 songs on an EP.... but look at what's happened then 'til now... Is it really that big a leap that this is all about Ole seeing Haley's improved potential and expanding their investment into her?

*Before you guffaw about #Haliens having an impact, I remind you that Billboard listed #Haliens as the 4th known fan base among the 15 years of American Idol contestants

Whatever it is I am happy with what it is. Our girl has spunk and legs after Idol now - I know how many think she needs to distance herself from them but to me it is part of her journey.

If that's the case, then maybe they are interested in getting radio play for their artists, instead of just putting songs on advertisements.

That's just wonderful in general. Ole has certainly been great to Haley, and it would be nice to see them have a bigger presence in the music world because we need more artist friendly labels.

Well, as we get closer to "Better" and its release, some may hope for a big hit for Haley... But, for those who wonder how and why certain artists always seem to be on the charts, click this link below to an Atlantic Magazine article.

Basically a handful of writers, mostly foreigners, use templates and formulas to create hit songs, then market them like screenplays to the A List stars. And outside of those A Listers, charting high on the Billboard charts and staying there is pretty much impossible. For example, Jewel, a Grammy winner with millions of CDs sold, debuted at 28th with her last CD on the Billboard 200. Katharine McPhee, an Idol with a current hit TV show, released a new CD in the past few weeks, and unless I totally missed it, it did not chart at all. And Carly Mae Jepsen, who was heavily promoted by Interscope, had major media coverage, and other exposure---she did debut at number 16. But in week two, it fell to 64 and then in week three, it was down to 104.

So, my point is that as excited as we all are about "Better", keep in mind that the odds of Haley breaking through, having a hit song on the radio are long. But who knows? I guess the point of my post here is that it sucks that Haley who can out-sing all of these pop tarts is not on the charts. And, it is kind of pre-determined who gets to the top of the charts. GRRRRR….

Michelle Chamuel did a TedX talk, and explained that topic a little a bit. This formula applies to all pop music. In it, she explains how the chord progression hooks the listener in. ( as well as some personal stuff..)

Haley's music most certainly has those hooks in it. It's not those writers that make the A lister (quite a few idols have worked with max martin, including Lambert and Iraheta..) It's the A listers that makes the hit.

It'll be hard for Haley to break through into the pop world because it's hard for up and comers. Radio plays established stars from major labels. Her song will have to catch on elsewhere before radio picks it up. And radio still determines stars.

That being said, I think that article has some hyperbole. Sure, the artist has help, but Taylor Swift is known for her song writing. Not only that, but there are a lot of popular singer songwriters at the moment (Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith).
