How because the girl doesn't have the prerequisite curves she couldn't possibly give the song it's needed interpretation? Really?
I couldn't get through the video mostly because of her voice (probably why she ends up talk/singing in most of it)
yeah well, I think it's all cohesive.. she's in a rhytmic pocket and it's quite a believable thing for me about a girl with a normal body "owning it" and a playfullness. And the studio version did have great audio of course.
And yeah rap can be good too.
And MAE I'm not sure how you didn't hear the Bass throughout.. and the guy wasn't half bad(and of course he was eccentuating the boom boom of a bit butt ala cartoon show big people) AND in the recording I enjoyed the full sound of the clapping and you can even hear the clapping emulating a regae scraping of a wood block.. a sound most noise filters would eliminate. (the clappers or the mix had the clappers sort of doing a ripple wave at times when they weren't doing the unison thing in the groove). And the snare wasn't half bad either.
Her voice? nah, it aint about her voice but she is consistent and on pitch enough and as you point out she's sort of speaking more than singing anyway.. not trying to show off doing what she can't do vocally in the sustained not version..
that even Rex Harrison could pull off "singing" in My Fair Lady.
not sure if this one supports or disputes how you feel but I enjoyed it. There is also a subtle implication about being able to hear more to a tone of voice that relates to my comment about how having the curves reflects in how it's sung.
The singing starts at 2:19 in but Miguels system doesn't allow it to link that way.
enjoyed the whole video.. and sort of like the character over analyzing everything. (which might help explain my essays ? !)
Now, Meghan does a lot better than Rex by far in the singing department and even find her yes its squeak and thin but it fits the song, pleasant as it didn't try too hard.
The sillier they are the more I'm enjoying it as comedy anyway. (say blurred lines or the one the korean guy did a summer earlier).
Comedy is all about timing anyway.
sorry you guys don't like that one.
As to the Voice.. I sort of liked all the voters and judges choices and voted the same way(as the judges for the third spot). I do understand how people could differ on Elijuh (or however he spells that), unfortunately I don't really like the song ... so it made it hard for me to really enjoy it . I didn't find Sugar super duper either though.. just curious to see if she can do more.. even for me it was a close call.
Where I seemed to differ with most fans commenting was about Ryan Sill... I liked his performance a lot and bought Into it... found him being genuine and open and optomistic.and... remember how I defended Mac Arthur park haha!
