WOW this is like the Summer of '11 with snipets of the tour coming in from all walks of life.

Ariana Savalas was the secret star of it all, in my opinion. She did the full sexy femme fatale performance in an absolutely superb manner. That can get nasty quickly, or silly, or out of bounds, if you do not do it with absolute authority, blow-you-away sex appeal and perfect moves to go with it, which is exactly what she did, plus great singing. It turns out she speaks pretty good German with only a slight groping for words and with a lovely little accent. So she teased Scott with “now you have no idea what I’m saying, do you!??” … to which Scott replied “nein”, and got everybody to laugh. She eventually even made a poor guy in the first row a bit further down finally after much hesitation to pucker his lips and just when he thought she might actually kiss him she simply put her lips closer to his and whistled the whole next section of the melody and then dismissed him. It was superb and the poor guy a total victim. That’s what you get from femme fatales!

John's reply: She does that femme fatale thing very well, and the fact she speaks some German seemed to add a lot in Berlin. She connected with the audience while singling out a "victim" -- and everyone's in on the joke. Also starting her routine offstage with Mikal was a brilliant touch. I thought the video of her performance was very funny and expertly done, and I'm sure it was great for the audience. Overall it was very polished and impressive. Perhaps Berlin inspired her to channel Lola-Lola.

Indeed, she does do the femme fatale role well -- so well, that I thought she should have been singing Lili Marleen. Yes, yes, I know: (the song is) too old, too cliche, and, thus, too obvious. Yet, it would be interesting to hear her take on it. (Mind you, Ariana sings much, much better than Ms. Dietrich.)

John's response: That makes sense and fits with MAEs impressions, I think.

Sigh ... I fear that Von may never "get it." I don't think that what he's lacking musically can be "taught" -- in fact I'm quite certain it can't. Perhaps by being around the group he's touring with, he'll listen enough to begin getting ideas. But, in truth, I'm doubtful. Mercfan, Tom, it would be interesting to hear your ideas on this. (Even more, I almost give my eyeteeth to know what Haley and Casey might think about it. However, after wearing braces 4 years -- even though many years ago, I'm hugely reluctant to alter "my smile," hence the "almost.")

John's reply: Casey looks like the life of the party in the Berlin videos. High energy and it is evident that he loves what he does. He is polishing his performance, too.

Casey does look like he's having the time of his life -- and to this point, he may very well be. John, you're right -- his performing skills are becoming more polished. So now, rather than manic, Casey is merely a polished OTT. (Disclaimer: from what I can see, OTT is, at the very least encouraged, if not downright required when touring with PMJ. But it appears to make an enjoyable show!)

John's response: Haley looks radiant in the video you took and was getting into the positive energy in the theater. I expect she will quickly take on a larger role. The PMJ performers are looking comfortable and more polished, and I think Haley can benefit from being part of this cast of performers. The give and take between them on stage, and with the audience seems to work quite well.

The ever lovely Haley -- she does look radiant. Haley's such a quick study, so I suspect she will easily pick up and benefit from both the energy and the polish of those around her. While the AI tour was accompanied by professionals for set up, sound, etc., the performers were young, with varying degrees of emotional and professional maturity levels. While interesting for them to see different sights and go through the rigamaroles of being "up" for a show every or every other night, the over all performance level was just not what Haley's dealing with now. It will be fun to see how this experience translates into her future solo (with band) performances.

Casey's 'rough edges' are a perfect compliment for PMJ

He's always been good at basically having a conversation w/ the crowd, getting them to participate (So does Haley), he's very entertaining in his part of the sequence singing a bit of Hendrix

I think there's no other way to say it than he's not as musically talented as the others. Just from a technical aspect..his voice isn't as strong. He's got some issues he can fix (way overuses his vibrato and seems to be flat more than he should be..) But his voice is very thin.

And he doesn't appear to be like Casey..who seems to make up for his technical inabilities with his musicality (like for instance, his ability to play off of those around him.) And not to mention Casey's gifts with instruments.

I will say, I can see where a crowd might like him. From watching his videos..he appears to be a lot of fun on stage. Very enjoyable. It's like Scotty McCreery's "Gone" performance. That wasn't the most difficult song to sing, nor was it the best vocal ever (although I'd say Scotty is more talented than Von vocally)..but it sure puts a smile on my face when I watch it.
