RE: Haley joining PMJ for part of European tour
Got word The #Halien video (28 gigabytes) from the SMYM shoot should arrive in my mailbox on Monday... I hope to be able to put some kind of "Behind the Scenes" montage together before I leave for the UK
I'm told video he shot is really good and the audio's not bad, you can hear people talking, and SMYM audio cue's being played for Haley to act to, except for the ever present wind which means I'll probably end up using SMYM for the audio as a back drop to the video
Harry and Haley, at the time, both asked to be able to see anything I put together from the shoot for approval before I post it. So I hope to be able to get it done so I can show it to Haley personally at the Meet and Greet to get an immediate opinion on whether she approves or not, as opposed to delivering it by email to Harry

RE: Haley joining PMJ for part of European tour
All these videos coming out are so cool!! I am soooo glad that Haley joined PMJ for this tour!! Caley back together again, Haley in her element, just giving it her all!! WOW! I'm addicted.
I'm sorry that XAtlantic didn't see more of Haley singing, but he did meet her and get a chance to hear that voice up close. IMO it's a surreal experience, and as soon as it's over, your like, "Did I really experience that, or was it a dream?" kind of thing. And then you want to do it again.... and again...
Thanks to everybody for finding all these amazing videos and pics, and posting them here. Fun times when there's a new concert every night.

I know since the first time you contacted me, you had expressed that you wanted to contribute in some way. A simple gesture, but it did a lot to remind me one of the reasons it's a pleasure to get to do what I do, including facilitating and making the best of contributions from fans who want to help support Haley
It also reminds me that Haley's voice and talent just needs to be heard, that's all it takes to grab a hold of someone, so much, from across the globe, they reach out and ask "I want to help, How can I help?"
That PM meant something for me. It was a beginning of understanding that a hobby, making videos of my travels to see Haley, could actually have a real and far reaching impact, beyond our little Halien community in the States
thank you

Although it was just the raw materials supplied, so much visual and audio intuition from you, Tusk, went into the products that went online. Just great.
But back to the subject matter: I like the b/w video, for showcasing her art. For showing off Haley and what she does, this is the one that flies. On the other hand, as a historical document of Haleys first appearance as a singer in Europe (yes, not counting highschool), I think color is a must - say in 20 years they make that famous HBO documentary "Haley Reinhart - The First Years", they would not put b/w in (though they would also have the glare problem to deal with, hm ...). So that would be for my video combined with chpmem's audio. The ONLY thing speaking for my original version, i.e. with my audio, is the view count and when it was posted. It isn't possible to replace it's audio with the better one without loosing the view could, is it? I expect not. So what I would do is to keep it just for now because the view count might attract some, but 2-3 weeks after the European tour has ended, I'd pull it, give up the views, and just have the color version with good audio for documentation and the b/w for enjoyment. (Sorry for so many words!) Great to have it rolling!
This is a reason I have such difficulty erasing my memory cards, even though I back them up.... for some reason, I sense that they may be a valuable record of Haley's beginnings sometime in the future. I end up buying new cards instead of erasing and reusing old ones (ya I'm weird that way )
Another negative of removing your original is people have favorited and tweeted and referred to the video. If I were to delete it, the links would all be dead. I don't think it's that 'horrible', the audio not so bad, that it deserves to be deleted after it's worn out it's use.
Americans like to have a choice, options are good. I don't think I could delete it.

Then I waited for his response...
To my surprise, Christian was incredibly friendly and supportive in his answer...
...As has been the case in our conversation, he told me, of course!, anything to help Haley, such a talented singer.
I think, for one, people who go to PMJ concerts are probably a pretty cool selection to begin with - people who know what something "good" is. Second, honestly, people in Berlin are pretty cool folks, too, for the most part, relaxed and friendly and very open-minded. I am biased, but it's is just a great city for the people.
You'd be surprised at the responses I've received from Haliens when I've asked to use their videos. I understand it though, and don't hold it against them. It is after all a piece of their memory. I always tell them that's it's OK if they decline, that it's simply a request No Worries. I'd rather something freely given for a cause, than to press people or make them feel guilty for not giving me their property.
Your fellow Berliner was not only fine w/ me using his vid, he understood it's value to Haley's fans (he said he supports bands too) and went above and beyond to facilitate spreading the word about Haley. So I've communicated with two Berliners and found them both to be exceptionally positive, supportive and well spoken.

Kind of like Amy Winehouse. it's in the lyrics...
(03-13-2015, 02:01 PM)XAtlantic Wrote: Lol, what's with that obsession with not using some words? I never quite got that. It is ok to carry a weapon but not to use a certain word in public ... ponder that! (sorry, couldn't resist, just a European view ... of course I know of the important influence of puritan communities in the forging of the US! They were fleeing Europe, of course ...).
Like you, I'm often confused by this 'social affliction' some have with 'words', the means by which we communicate. Maybe it's because my early upbringing was in the UK but I could never understand this need to chose a 'word of the day' to be socially offended by. Even to the point of being revisionists and going back in time to 'edit out' even socially impactful works like Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn and Roots.
I've always told people, it's not the words that are bad, it's the context within which they are used. If we remove words because we blame them for social unrest, we limit our ability to express ourselves to others. IMO be insulted by the racism, anger and vitriol that charges the word, not the word in and of itself
(03-13-2015, 02:01 PM)XAtlantic Wrote: Last thought: I have been asking myself whether I regret that I did not get to see a later concert, when Haley would sing more. I mean, I heard her for exactly 1 song and a few snipets on top. But the answer is: NO, not at all! I am so happy to have heard her, to have met her, to have her liking a photo I took and Tusk processed. To think that she could easily just have joined 1 or 2 days later, too! No, no regrets in any way whatsoever!
I too am glad that you have no regrets and absolutely enjoyed the whole experience (you are an easy going Berliner, after all ) It makes me feel good that I was able to contribute to extending your 'Buzz' from seeing Haley, the recognition was unexpected, but definitely rewarding, that TeamHaleyFans succeeded in in it's 'raison d'etre'
In another reality, you could've been at the PMJ show where Haley wasn't there, that you didn't get to talk with her twice, to hear her sing live and to come away with a first up video of another chapter that's opened for Haley
When you have had the number of things that had to go right for this to all fall your way, perspective-wise, it's really hard to worry about the things that didn't happen, rather it's better to reminisce about the positive things that did happen
