The article appears to have been originally written a little while ago. It says "Creep" has nearly 10 million views when it now has over 11 million. No mention of "Can't Help Falling in Love" either, but that could be because Chase doesn't want to call attention to another advertiser.

Okay, Haley's SMYM commercial had me convinced to move my life savings to Chase Bank.
Then I stumbled across Deka's convincing pitch below and now I'm all confused again. Finance is hard.

I really hope Haley is getting some decent fees for the Ad work she's done. As they say "Raindrops make oceans". I don't know about you, but I've been seeing the Chase Ad a LOT lately. Yesterday I saw it 4 times-- once during the morning news while getting ready for work and 3 times during the evening. I don't even watch that much TV, really-- mostly just sports.

Signing with Ole will prove to be one of the wisest decision any Idol contestant has ever done IMO. Who could have foreseen this after she parted ways with Interscope??

According to one website, Celebrity Petal, Haley got $333K for CHFIL in $286K for SMYM. Not sure how accurate those figures are but they sound reasonable given the size of the ad campaigns. I'm guessing Haley is also making additional money from the CHFIL downloads.

I also started thinking about the "others" ads in the Chase Masters series. Remember, when the SMYM's commercial was announced as one of four commercials in the Chase Masters series.

This is pretty cool - glad Haley has Show Me Your Moves being used in a National Ad Campaign.

It turns out that among the 4 commercials, only 1 remains active - the Haley and Joel Silverman ad. The Serena Williams and Tim Morehouse ads got a lot of early play but neither appears to have aired since last summer. The Rockette's commercial aired as recently as November but it got very little play. Haley and the dogs reign supreme.

I don't know how accurate those numbers are, but I think Haley was fortunate to be exposed to the income potential of placements right from the start. It's one thing to read about them in a book, another to see the checks hit your account.

I don't know how that business works, but I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that Haley would get some sort of residual based on the number of times her song(s) were played. Getting a hunk of cash upfront would be great.

BTW, Chase has another Ad out to replaced those two others. It's focused on someone involved in creating the Kung Fu Panda movies. Now's just Haley's and that new one.

The new way the music biz is getting their artists exposed in TV commercials for unrelated products. I first heard this song in a Chase Bank TV ad with a dog trainer. Good song. Song was released in 2014. Check it out.

I suspect that thess numbers are in the general range, give or take a few hundred thousand .. and perhaps a few hundred to the upside ...

Man... I keep writing and deleting long explanations to my thinking.

My rationale all comes down to comments she's been making about a "year of harvest" on AI and comments before live shoe songs like "success coming if you work for it", and "couldn't have had it happen any other way" and just what I see as changes in her demeanor.

As for those numbers, I'd estimate that even $750k (I'd guess those were earlier estimates) very quickly turns into $275k after partner/promoter/label or whatever you call them fees and the huge cut that the State (10% in CA nearly) and federal (reember self employment taxes on the first part and high rate on the rest) taxes take..

but even with that sort of haircut high earners get, l think her demeanor and actions suggest that she's got a few years living expenses in the bank... and it's not cheap for a young professional to live in LA even not extravagantly.. and more expensive for an aspiring star with incrementally more expensive beauty spa and clothing budgets than a young lawyer or something that also would be pretty high.

She's just been very confident.. so I think she must have more money in the bank and not be so critically concerned about where the next payday necessary to meet the bills might come from.

AND.. of course there is Personal pride in having both made that kind of money as well as the equally valuable association of having 10s of millions of people enjoying you practicing your art!

On top of the money in the bank from those sources, and the optimism that it's bound to happen again.. she's been renewed for the voice over work, making regular money from PMJ appearances, collecting other continued royalties etc.

On the other end of the scale though ... if she had made "Millions"(plural) ... I suspect we would have heard even more enthusiastic words between songs than the keep working and it will work well... at that level there'd be.. more "I can't believe it happened" sort of stuff

I'm really happy for her success and I'm sure it's within the order or magnitude cited..

... and even better.. I'm optimistic that the "I can't believe it happened" sorts of statements are near at hand!
