Same for me - I was expecting this killer rip-off version, but to my ears, it doesn't fly very much.
I agree that giving credit is key in the world of arts (though we've also had the discussion here somewhere about creativity and inspiration and references - this here is different), but other than that I also take it as a sign that what Scott is doing, in this case with Haley's choices to add a lot to it, is working and becoming known - success. I'm sure Haley would tend to take the high road in that vein, while fighting the battle behind the scenes for any rights issues, because of course it is not ok to rip off too much.
And of course Radiohead's Creep itself was the topic of a plagiarism issue back in the day, it supposedly being similar to The Hollies' "The air that I breathe", which is why the writers of that song now share full co-writing credits on Creep even though they never actually co-wrote it in the straight way. Good for them. So Scott should be co-credited on the download versions of these songs and benefit (we don't know what arrangement Scott then has with his singers). Though he says he doesn't want money, just the credit - also taking the high road, and understanding that fame is about being famous. (Just follow the link in this recent post of George RR Martin's blog: http://grrm.livejournal.com/423623.html). But it would be a move.
Mercfan, thanks for your thoughts! I agree with you. Nonetheless, thanks Tusk for helping setting things straight quickly (which takes passion and emotion), though we Haley fans are indeed mostly known and should be known for being positive and friendly and witty.

Well, at least you know she read it! Which is something. (If it was her, who knows.) It surely must have been part of the moment when it dawned on her that she was into something different than what she thought. Maybe also shows that she's human, perhaps not taking negative stuff easily and then reacting in shutting it off (as if one could).
Not an easy life, being in the eye of the public. Which reminds us all the more of how well Haley's handled it all up to now, really very well.
Yes, let's hope in the end Haley is entering slowly the next level of being known. What counts is not the fleeting youtube encounters on the wave of the most present hype, but coming up again and again, in first a dozen, then hundreds, then even more references and allusions and mentions and influences over a longer time. In the end, in my mind, it is not really about Creep, either, it is about Haley's original music (though there's nothing wrong at all with great singers singing the great songs of their time, not at all!) - but I am still less certain about the exact size of market and general appeal for that. We've all been waiting for some song breaking through somehow eventually, but that is EP territory, different thread ... Lol, somehow we're all under tension ready to go as the ground shifts and things happen ... waiting what goes off, or if it will just settle down in a lull once more. (My worst nightmare: the EP coming out, being acclaimed by inside music lovers, but not rippling anything elsewhere. Could happen. Though ole should count for something. In that sense any recognition is good.)

About 62K views today
Probably a small uptick in view rate in the past few hours (after Creep performed on The Voice). Tomorrow's numbers should tell that tale.
BTW Kimberly's Creep is now at #13 on the overall iTunes chart.

RE: CREEP - PMJ studio version with HALEY
From TVLine:
When Xtina announced that Kimberly was covering “Creep” with some jazzy inflections, my stomach sank: Was nobody going to mention American Idol standout Haley Reinhart’s delectable new “Creep” cover with Postmodern Jukebox, the one that’s sitting at No. 2 on the iTunes jazz charts? No shock, the hat tip to a competing reality show didn’t happen on air — though Kimberly later tweeted her version was inspired by Haley’s. Still, while the arrangements had some similarities — despite a slightly creepier music-box tilt to Kimberly’s piano accompaniment, and a sexier horn vibe to Haley/PMJ’s — the vocal approaches didn’t overlap all that much. Kimberly’s approach felt less slinky, didn’t betray as much longing as Haley’s; the Voice diva instead amped up the theatricality of the melody, her tight growl crumbling with loneliness on the verses, then exploding with a howl as she went into a full backbend on the word “ruuuuunnnnn.” And now that she’s learned the art of gratitude-face during judges’ comments, Kimberly’s more of a threat to make the finale than ever before — and deservedly so
