Better debuted at BGdays, but around the same time as CityWalk (part of the LA/LV/Chi Trifecta)

OK -- thank you, Tusk.

But my overall point is that it seems that with this "soon to be released EP," it doesn't make sense to me that she will release songs that we've heard -- a lot. (And that is not to say that said songs weren't recorded while she was in the studio with a great group of musicians backing her up. There is a difference.)

I think, expect more 'new' songs.. although it makes sense to performing a song live over time to see if there's any changes you want to make before you 'print' it, I want to hear what Haley has, songwise, in her holster now, not from 2 years ago

When I asked Anders in UK about "Better" being on the EP, he looked down and kind of hemmed and hawed, but the things that have happened since, seems to indicate that it'd be, for sure, one of the songs on the EP

Other than that, IMO (hope) at least 4 of the songs will be ones recently written... It makes sense also from the standpoint that it'd encourage her fans to buy the new songs, songs not heard, when they might not, if it included (only six tracks) songs that we've heard.

I actually like Good or Bad and Lover Girl, compared to the Clare Reynold songs, (Knock Me Out & LIWFF). They are fresh enough, I can see one or both making the EP

Like NUG, although far more adamantly, "the blues" is a genre that I've long disliked for the very reason that given the limited chord structure (the basis of "the blues") and, frequently "whiny" nature (Chicago blues excepted), it both bores and annoys me.

Before either My Cake or Better made their debut, Haley had stated that what she was writing was more in "the blues" vein. (And, yes, Haley's blues are, obviously, influenced by the Chicago blues.) She didn't lead us astray -- My Cake and Better are both very much based in a blues format.

As such, to me, both are extremely repetitious, and I never particularly look forward to hearing either. From a musical standpoint, My Cake is simpler and far more repetitious. On the other hand, as Tusk has mentioned, Haley plays around/is more creative and playful when she performs it.

To me, Better is musically more interesting from the standpoint of both the melody and chord variations to the rhythms within the melody. As such, it may not be as "user friendly" to some listeners. But since it has a bit more "musical meat" to it, I can see why it might make the EP, whereas My Cake might not.

P.S. Since I come from an instrumental background where it's the music and only the music that matters, I truly could care less about the lyrics' message. However, if lyrics are a part of the music, they should be delivered (enunciated and given the appropriate emphasis) well. Even if the lyrics are "here, kitty kitty".

Don't forget, Haley and Anders 'changed up' the ending at Room5, more driven, powerful, reflecting the theme of the song, than the ending she used to have... I have a feeling this newer version we heard in Room 5 will have that change that may have been made after performing it many times 'the other way'

One thing that hasn't come up in new song discussions... Maybe because the answer is a 'no brainer'....

We heard about musicians being on the EP, but not any other vocalist, back up singers... so we can safely assume that all vocals will be Haley's? Background, harmonies etc...

On Listen Up! She had bg singers that included male vocalists too, will there be no male vocals on the bg vocals this time?

That's funny(weird?) because I was just about to mention how much I love the background vocals on"listen up!" and wondering what they would sound like on the EP

Yes -- no -- maybe? Wasn't Jacob Scesney involved in the recordings? Her dad?? Anders Grahn?? All men we know can provide some vocal backup.

But it's an interesting thought.

Are they strong enough vocalists to back her up? I know Anders could offer something interesting, but her dad? Haley did so many background vocals for her first album even with a bunch of singers at her disposal, so maybe she just enjoys that aspect. Did Haley not have them come in because it would be too expensive for interscope? If that's the case though then why didn't she have her mom and sister come in?
