Mini Halien Shindig #2 Chicago June 4-7

When I think of all the logistics it takes to get a tour ready, with buses, musicians, support crew, food, lighting, salaries, advertising, tickets etc, you can see why all these singers have jumped on the PMJ bandwagon. He has a built in audience, and all they have to do is show up. Join the tour when they can for a few weeks here and there. They are all getting great exposure, and get to travel all over the world.

That's another way the Reinhart/Bradlee confluence will be extremely helpful to Haley. He seems to have a very good idea of how to run the mechanisms of a tour. He will be an invaluable resource to Haley if/when she decides to launch a tour of her own

Babbs and Pat...very nice recap with just the right amount of Halien love

As far as the red face on Buzz, the lighting was red... But there could have been a slight, ever so slight, pink cast because I was finger pointing to Himm,which Ariana ignored for a brief moment

Babbs is the great inquisitor...she's always probing. She asked me, "Did your wife think your were funny when she met you?" She does impersonations too: Buzz's laugh...kept me on my toes all the time. I always enjoy seeing her, Himm and Penny when I visit Chi-Town!

Pat is the consummate social butterfly. She can walk up to anyone and start a conversation as if they are old friends. She started talking to a guy at PS Pub who had danced with Patti during one of their songs...Patti called him Dan Akryod because of the way he danced...too funny, but then Pat had a 1/2 pitcher of Mai Tais and a few glasses of wine ( just the right amount of Halien spirits ) Needless to say, Pat is the perfect Halien Ambassador!

I am so happy for you all that it worked out so beautifully all around (and Riley, for some reason I have a feeling that it's either front row or way back on the balcony - a balcony perch must be awesome as well, I can see myself sitting right up there, taking in the whole scene rather than just the feet of the band and slanted faces). It sounds like you made the Haley hometown visit what it should be, a true tour stop at Haley headquarters international! Glad she was up for a joint after-show, I really am amazed at their energy and live-it-now attitude, I'd be wiped and beat and looking for sleep ... it's just nice to hear and read about.

XAtlantic, not too long ago, I was wondering/thinking how much fun/satisfying it must be for you, reading -- and, perhaps, reveling -- in these new reports from Haliens attending PMJ shows, given that you got to "kick it off" for us. Think about it: for us, you were the first to experience not just Haley (and Casey) with Scott, but really, you introduced us to Morgan and Ariana. You were the first to provide that "up close and personal" perspective. Thanks again for all that you did just a few short months ago!

That would be fantastic! Some day it's going to happen. I need to do the 12 in 1. As for right now it's a huge many miles and I have a child to look after, not to speak of an ultra-busy scientist life, and of course I'd want to drive from Chicago to Seattle and on to LA, not to speak of that swing into Texas and on to New Orleans. Oh yes I would! It's been too long since I did it.

Yes! And I am really glad that Haley, Morgan and Ariana are hitting it off with each other so well, as friends. Back in early March my initial uninformed interpretation of the vibes (how wrong I was!) was that Morgan was the entrenched number 1 singer on that tour and now Haley had landed - but already at the mingle afterwards I found out that Morgan is nothing but really sweet and her seriousness on stage is just her being all about the music. I am really happy that these three do not feel competition amongst themselves (egos are something that Scott also seems to be able to manage well, which starts with selecting the right people) - having fun and supporting each other. I only regret that Cristina Gatti is a bit marginal to the picture at this point, she was spectacular live and fit right in. Wish I could see Robyn Adele someday, she's still another vibe!

That was ... March 8 ... seems like a year ago! So much happened. It's been a fun ride since Habits came out in mid-January. And the EP is yet to come!

I feel there's nothing special or unique about Robyn, except that she was the original in the PMJ troup. When I asked her to sign the back of my shirt (where I already had a few autographs she wrote in very large letters covering half the shirt with all three parts of her name. I kinda felt like she wanted to be known as the top dog in the PMJ Stable.
Ariana certainly provides the most entertainment value acting-wise and she's also a damn good singer if you listen to her solo recordings. Morgan has her upper register going for her along with some added eye-candy, But Haley is the one that can always set the mood and create such beautiful unique flowing sounds and emotions...and she's the best harmonizer of the group. When it's Maiya, Robyn & Ariana they seem to try to overpower eachother more than the smooth melodies that Morgan, Haley & Ariana blend together.

To be fair, Haley, Morgan and Arianna had much of the US tour and Euro tour to sing together, while these others had a couple of days to learn to harmonize with each other, might have something to do with it?

Thnx... The only thing that makes it 'work' is if I worked on Buzz's audio and used Himm's video. Unfortunately, as cool as the close ups are, when I grab Steve's video from youtube, it's only 46mb. For comparison, even if Buzz's video takes up appx 1/3 of the screen, Buzz's video is 3 times larger than Himm's at 154mb.

Unless I can get Himm's original file, this file, at 46 mb (including audio, so even less for video) in HD is too small and is going to look pixilated. One way to trick and simulate better resolution is to shrink the viewing area, similar to 'letterboxing', basically making more pixels in a square inch.

Here's Himm's vid, shrunk down (for resolution) with Buzz's audio w/a little hifi equalizer applied to it

Also, the Youtube snagged file looks a bit faded, again, probably due to it's small size. If you look at Buzz's, his video is brighter, more colour, more detail. Because it's larger and therefore higher resolution.

A way to fix that is either bring up contrast or saturation, but again, the lower resolution limits how much. A way around that, which i've used with video that have colour/satruation/ or lighting issues, is to turn it black and white. Like I had to do w/ the Solano Beach video of Creep, and the Berlin video of Habits. Turning it black and white also lessens the impact of the light streaks in Himm's video

Just explaining why, if I were to put it on my channel, I would have to do what I did due to the video's low resolution and size
