CHFIL got 3 monitored adds today. One add on AC, WTFM-FM in Johnson City, TN, which has been playing it since last week, and two adds on HAC, KORL-FM in Honolulu and WARQ-FM in Colombia, S.C., neither of which have shown any spins yet.

Not sure what this means, sorry but don't follow the charts. Some have added and not played the song yet?

An Add means the radio station's musical director, program director, corporate headquarters, or whoever makes the calls on what get played at the station, has "added" it to the "playlist," the collection of 50 or so songs that are in the station's current play rotation. I don't really understand the details either. The important thing is that CHFIL will be played on these stations which can help it get Adds on other stations. It's also important in that CHFIL is paving the way for other Haley songs to get played on the radio in the future.

CHFIL continues to roll along, once again stetting new peaks for spins and audience on HAC. On AC, thanks to the Delilah effect (see below), CHLIF is now #19. It is also back up #165 on iTunes.



The stations below are the AC starters for CHFIL. These are most, if not all, iHeart RADIO stations playing the Delilah show. These are the stations PJ discovered late last week. The stations that show 3 spins play Delilah evenings 7 to 12. The Hartford and Honolulu stations run the Delilah show overnight so they likely will show a 3rd spin tomorrow. Hopefully, the other Delilah stations will show 4 spins tomorrow and so on.

So why hold back...unless waiting for something big.

I think the best we can hope for is that the Extra gum spot is one of the pre-game ads.

As much as I would love to see it, it's not going to happen. Mars has already invested millions for a Snicker and Skittles ad (which Steven Tyler is in) for the Super Bowl.

Yea, I don't see the SB happening. I think Wrigley's (so far anyway) is missing the boat on leveraging the commercial and the song. The association between the brand, the video spot and Haley's rendition of CHFIL is strong. The success of the advertisement helps the song and the success of the song brings up thoughts of the video and the brand.

The story of the the ad as a tearjerker is also appealing for media outlets. An SB spot with the subsequent reviews of SB ads by other TV and media would extend the value of the SB buy, and contribute to spins on the radio of the song, which for many functions as a proxy for the ad.

In retrospect, if you knew you had a winner of a spot, and the budget to run two-minutes during the Superbowl, the way to go would be to...

Air shorter TV spots with a notation to "Watch Superbowl 50 to see the complete story." Then release the full version online after it had aired during the game.

Did you see the 2nd part of my post? Almost all, if not all, of those new AC spins are due to the song being played on Delilah's syndicated show on iHeart RADIO. That is 87 spins likely due to the Delilah effect. Without it, CHFIL would be losing significant spins on AC this week. Without it, no 2 spins of CHFIL on Hartford radio.

As to the Super Bowl, you can’t easily buy ad time a month or 2 before the game. Super Bowl ad time was pretty much gone by the time the CHFIL commercial came out. AdWeek had an article about it almost being sold out during the first week of November.
