Holiday was signed to Brunswick Records by John Hammond to record current pop tunes with Teddy Wilson in the new "swing" style for the growing jukebox trade. They were given free rein to improvise the material. Holiday's improvisation of the melody line to fit the emotion was revolutionary. Their first collaboration included "What a Little Moonlight Can Do," and "Miss Brown to You (1935)." ...

With their arrangements, Wilson and Holiday took pedestrian pop tunes, such as "Twenty-Four Hours a Day" (#6 Pop) or "Yankee Doodle Went To Town", and turned them into jazz classics. Most of Holiday's recordings with Wilson or under her own name during the 1930s and early 1940s are regarded as important parts of the jazz vocal library. She was then in her early to late 20s.

I am guessing Haley is thrilled from an artist point of view to have done PMA - even if she missed a chance to be on TV ( and who's to say that chance won't come around again, soon ) I bet Haley is so honored to be with the company she kept in Philly that she didn't feel any pain of a lost opportunity.

From Haley to what I heard, went thru two interpretations before getting to me so it may have been because of the PMJ tour that she couldn't do Dancing With The Stars and not the assumption that it was because she was in Philly that monday night. Patti flies home this afternoon. Can't wait to hear & see what a great experience this was for Haley.

Thanks for all the pics.I guess I've done my share of complainng about her lack of management but the exposure from this event is all good.And,as always she seems to be having a ball.And besides-I'm getting to see her in Boston on Nov 10 so I'm really looking forward to that.

I must say, today I feel a little awkward about going so deeply into the management discussion - after all, this is a public place and it's really none of our business. Of course this is a place to discuss among Haliens, but probably it would be good to keep the style and maintain the boundaries of respect for Haley the wonderful, cheery person who thinks music is worth fighting for - at some point it is not following anymore, but telling her what to do, without knowing anything, even if nobody here has that intention, of course - it is all an expression of interest and passion for her music! - and even though most of it is and was well expressed and out of real enthusiasm for her and her path. Opinion varied from "she needs support now" to "don't worry, she knows what she's doing", from "don't worry, she's got income and opportunities for what she wants to do" to "maybe there are obstacles to her doing what she want to do". So that made for a rich discussion, which was fun. But as I said, today I personally feel like I thought too public and too personal about things that are not my business and were "talking about rather than to somebody".

So it is good to hear, kaypea, about upcoming excitement of seeing her. I already have my PMJ tickets for May 25, 2016, even though it's anybody's guess who will be there and might not even be Haley's main thing next year. Too early to be excited, but it is sitting here ...

I am in the camp of she needs support now…but who knows? As noted, we really don't know what Haley is up to behind the scenes. I think this Extra Gum commercial came totally out of the blue--right? Maybe Ole and Dina and her people have a plan all lined up around this EP release and into the future. Here is what I would love to see:

• Another PMJ video in November, just to keep Haley out there via social media.
• Release of "Better" as a single by early December to get attention for her new EP. Preorders could be done over Christmas time. By the way, I love the way they reworked "Better" with a thumping bass beat to start and the rock guitars.
• Somehow, if Ole can manage it, get Haley on some TV shows such as "The View" or "Rachel Ray", but a real stretch goal would be to get her on Ellen, Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert or Conan. Or even late night shows like Seth Meyers or James Corden.
• To coincide with "Better" release, update to the Haley web site, including links to PMJ, "Listen Up" music and maybe some new merchandise. They should incorporate Rachel's site for the news feed. Use Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc to notify her fan base of the big news.
• Release of EP "Better" in January 2016 with some more media appearances.
• Announcement of a 15 city tour with a live band (paging Casey Abrams) at 1000-1500 seat arenas around the country. The Better Tour 2016: Beauty and The Beard

So, if you ask me, Haley is having a blast right now---making music that millions of people are listening to via PMJ, finding new fans with the Extra Gum commercial, and touring the world from Australia and New Zealand to Italy. And as someone noted---she is on tour! With a real band! And people are going nuts when they see her! I wanted to see her in Pittsburgh and it is sold out! Damn!

What more could a musician want--to perform before adoring fans, get paid, and travel the world. So, I am hopeful that the wheels are in motion behind the scenes and there are big things in the works for Ms. Reinhart.

I just have to try and keep in mind all of the positives she has now that weren't there a year ago-the financial gain,all the exposure with PMJ and the response that she's received and also this commercial.Plus she always manages to surprise everyone.And also what do I really know about what might be going on behind the scenes.But it is fun to get people's perspectives on a forum like this.
