Since "Better" from Palatine was one of the weaker audios of the set, I gave a try at syncing the video up w/ the studio audio of Better, what do you think ?

I prefer the feel of what the original performance was like including background chatter, amplifier sqwauk and the buzz of spontanious cheering and reaction instead of something that would encourage viewers to just watch youtubes for the audio instead of actually buying her music.

I asked Ole's Randall Foster if it was OK for me to do? He said it was because they will put an ad on it, so Haley and Ole will get paid every time someone watches it....as opposed to a one time purchase.... Every one of my videos that Ole puts an ad on makes money for Haley with every view for as long as they are posted.....

I also added a link to iTunes to buy Better.

If I could've monetized my channel last year, I could've made $1600-$2000 for the year

My videos make ad revenue for both Ole and Haley, less we forget that Ole's business is collecting royalties through ad/song placement.

The changes in the music industry in recent years have really altered the revenue streams for songs and albums. It used to be a fairly straightforward count of record sales -- physical records (tapes, CDs) for years then with the addition of downloads (iTunes). Now streaming is a major factor, as well as ad revenues from places like Youtube. Not only lots of pieces to track, but it continues to rapidly evolve.

I don't know how the ads work exactly, but when I listen to Haley or PMJ on YT I try to let the opening ad play under the assumption that more revenue comes in for that scenario vs. skipping it.

And kudos for checking with Randall Foster, Tusk. It is nice that revenues can be generated for Haley from grass roots efforts.

One caveat is FaceBook, posting videos on FaceBook only makes money for FaceBook, not song writers, and it's looking to be another area that songwriters/content creators may go to court to make FB pay up

(it's why you see YT views touted more often than FB views, YT views can have a monetary value to the creators)

If it's a choice between watching something on YT or FB, chose YT because at least that way, you enjoying Haley's music also pays Haley for each view

Yeah, it is a shame those tens of millions of views (into the hundreds of millions now) that videos featuring Haley have garnered on FB don't translate into any direct money for her. Just some publicity I guess.

I'm not sure how much revenue Haley (or the other singers) make from Scott's PMJ videos (I'm going to guess, a very small amount, since they'd be singing Scott's arragnments), but I have to figure how 'in demand' Haley is as a PMJ singer, her videos bringing in a much higher view count average per video, that maybe she might get a bigger 'cut' of Scott's video pie...but from my perspective from my comparatively MUCH SMALLER channel...Scott must be swimming in the $$ now, so many videos w/ so many millions, tens of millions of views, every day collecting him views and money

It's no surprise that he uses other piano players to take his place on tour so he can enjoy the fruits of his labour. Haley said, for now, it looks like she'd be performing PMJ's 'Big' shows, so outside of loyalty to Scott, it might be another indicator that she's being compensated for helping raising PMJ's profile....

But as far as putting money in Haley's pockets from videos, those would come from viewing videos that she had a hand in creating. Her revenue comes from videos of songs she wrote more than the ones she just performs in (the writers/owners for her covers would get paid for that)
