I thought he was young, maybe 19? 20?

Haley had exited via this door a couple times during the concert, so as soon as her set ended, I left the venue to go see if I can catch her. The door was 'stage right' (stage right means, to your right if you were on stage). I turned the corner where I encountereed, maybe 40 people in a semi circle around the door with a path bisecting it for the artists to enter and exit the bar. There was a guy at the door as security. As we waited, I noticed this young man was waiting w/ a woman, I thought might have been an older sister. In his hand, he had the picture booklet, autographed, the one we got when we pre-ordered "Listen Up!" with pics of Haley, immediately identifying him as an #OGHalien.

I overheard the lady say to him, I didn't even bring anything for her to sign. He took a page from the picture book, removed it and gave it to her.

I pointed at the book and said, "so you're here to see Haley?" He said, "Oh yes, I've been a fan for a long time, but this is the first time I've heard her sing live but couldn't get in, so I'm hoping I'll be able to meet her"

I told him I knew he was a Haley fan by the picture book, told him about my Youtube, which he recognised. I told him that I had video'd the show, that I too was hoping to see her after the show. We could see her inside walking out and back into a room next to the bar where VIP, artists, guests and contest winners were, but we waited for her to come out

As I was contnuing the small talk with him about Haley, I noticed that Ken and ISCAT were talking with her... Earlier, I had messaged her that hopefully we could see her because ISCAT and Ken had some things for her.

I went to talk to the securtiy, can't remember what I said to him, but I saw Ken point towards me, the security motioned to Haley, if I was OK to come in? Haley smiled, nodded and motioned me to come in.

Ken and ISCAT were talking w/ Haley, I couldn't really catch what was being said because they were near a speaker, the ambient bar noise was loud any way. Behind Ken and ISCAT were people also hoping to get Haley's attention. I waited behind Haley as she complied w/ requests for photos and autographs. In the mean time, I saw the young man outside, he seemed shy, behind the crowd, looking in at what was going on inside. I nodded to him, pointed to him then Haley, I was letting him know I'd try and get him his meeting.

Eventually, the event people had to set up for the next act, so had to clear the path separating the crowd from Haley, after which she turned around, said Hi and gave a hug. I told her that she did great, I had a good time, then I told her about the young man waiting outside, and pointed to him. Seeing me motion to him, he had a big smile as he approached and Haley met him at the door. I offered to hold Haley's drink while she signed his booklet and the page for his friend. He must have come w/ a couple people because he posed w/ Haley for different people (now that I think of it, maybe the other person was an event photographer?). He said a few words to Haley, and thanked Haley and me as he left with his friends

Other people began to ask for pictures and autographs from Haley, one guy asked her to autograph his phone. That's when I took the photo that I tweeted...

She was there for a little while longer as the requests kept coming in for photos and autographs. Eventually, the security cut it off, and Haley and I went inside. I apologized that she had to spend extra time w/ autographs & pics because I asked her to go see the young fan. She said it was no bother at all . Did I mention Haley had this big easy smile the whole time? (Like in Ken's Photo of Haley I used as the video thumbnail for CHFIL)

I talked to her for a few minutes, She'd already spent alot of times w/ fans, I didn't want to take too much more of her time, told her what I needed to, told her she was great again, and that I was looking forward to seeing her in Chicago.

I then made my way back into the main area of the venue where I met up again w/ Ken and ISCAT. The last two acts were the most anticipated, Blue October an DNCE But by that time we had spent 6-7 hours standing, we were ready to go get some food and sit down, so we left. The whole thing was a great time. People were incredibly friendly and sociable, there was excitment and positivity in the air. I hear they did really great sets, but there are worse ways to end a long day of music than to spend a few minutes w/ Haley.

What a wonderful day! First off let me say you couldn’t have two better representatives for Haliens. Tusk and Ken easily interact with fans for all the performers that were there about Haley and they are very willing to help out in any way they can to even taking their trash to throw out as we waited in line for 3 to 4 hours. I am really glad I had the opportunity to spend a whole day with Tusk and Ken and to get to know them a little more.

It is a good we got there as early as we did, 9 am. We heard there were 500 people last year trying to get in and the place holds 178. It was so bad that people were climbing the walls to get in. They had to call the police and ended the event early. They recommended we get there at least by 10 am but better at 9 am. Even so at 9 there were still people lined up. As you saw from the pictures the line was long and went for blocks and a lot of the fans had to listen from outside.

As we waited in the line, the venue was already filling up with media, VIPs and contest winners. By the time we were let in there was already a big crowd. There were a couple of benches and more tables for sitting and keeping drinks. We found it hard to search out decent vantage points to record from. There were some places where we could get elevation, but were told we couldn’t stand on them. Security pointed to a few small metal stools we could use to stand on at our own risk. I elected not to, but I saw that Tusk used it to gain a great advantage at a high angle. Ken found a nice spot for us to Tusk’s right on the other side and a little behind. We were behind one of the benches with people already occupying them. In front of the bench were the audio and video equipment for professional video and sound capture. Our position seemed to be a nice place to get a clear view of the performers from the ground level. However there were a number of times the staff operating the equipment would need to stand and move around to do their job that often times obscured my clear view. Also the fans at the bench would stand for a few moments to take a picture or short video in front of my camera but overall it was very good. As Tusk said the crowd was very nice and I’m sure I was in some folks way since I was standing but they didn’t say anything and some even waited until I finished recording before I could let them past me. Ken took some incredible photos as he always does. Being elevated as Tusk was enabled him to be over people.

As you already know Haley was amazing. The crowd loved her as you can hear in Tusk’s video. I’m so happy to see that Haley attracts so many fans in Country land. My friends at work only know of Haley through American Idol and a little from me but they have heard her gum commercial on TV and CHFIL on 94.7 and like Haley’s voice and the song a lot, nothing but compliments.

After Haley’s set Ken and I worked our way slowly through the mass of people to the front near the area where the inside bar is located. We had lost Tusk. Security had closed off the bar for VIPs and those with access passes to SXSW but we could see Haley inside. We waited for Haley. It was so crowded with so many fans wanting to see Haley. However before I knew it Haley was with Ken and he had given her a gift. He told her that I also wanted to talk to her and had something for her. We spoke briefly. I said I was happy to hear her sing her originals live and just thanked her. Ken had given me one of his beautiful photo albums that I asked her to sign. With so many fans, Haley is still always very accommodating to each of them.

As I said before it was a great day. It is always more fun to spend a Haley day with other Haliens. I want to thank Tusk for the fantastic video of Haley performing CHFIL. He always does a professional type job with his video editing skills.

Since I don’t post much, I want thank everyone that posts to Haleyfans with pictures, videos, comments, Haley updates, announcements and statistical information on Haley’s popularity rise. It is such a joy to follow and read.

Thanks for the eyewitness reporting Tusk and ISCAT4HALEY. Tusk, that video gives a sense of the venue - it sounds crowded and a little rousty. And ISCAT4HALEY you gave a great account of the event. Sounds like a good time.

Lots of excitment in the air as the release of Haley's records nears.

Thanks guys for the great recaps and videos. Sounds like a lot of Haliens were there to support her! I've often thought about bringing the Listen Up picture book and asking Haley if she could sign it for me.
