RE: Haley performing in Austin, TX during SXSW - March 18
You're welcome, it was a team effort. I was near the bar. I brought one of the small metal stools with me. There was a fire pit near the back with raised cement border, I asked if we were allowed to stand on it? They said we couldn't but offered the stool, warning that if we fell off, it was on us
I'd learned an important lesson when I was w/ Greg at Ste Michelle, if I thought I might be an obstruction, it's best to try and engage w/ the folks I might get in the way of. I chose a spot right next to a pole, partly because, the pole was already an obstruction and it provided a place for me lean to steady my balance and reduce the shake from holding my camera above my head.
The people I was with, many were near the front of the line, some knew of Haley, a couple of young ladies in front of me were there for Haley too. They all knew that I'd be using the stool when Haley came on. Many were there for the other acts as well as Haley, so they knew what to expect when I climbed the stool for Haley's half hour.
As ISCAT said, he and Ken were pretty much in front of the stage, but behind the sound board and video equipment. It was not as dense w/ people as it was around me, near the bar, which was a good thing, as it turned out.
My audio was actually just a bit richer, you could hear Haley's voice better. Unfortunately, as you might guess, my camera picked up ambient bar noises (glass clinking, people taking orders, men trying to impress women... etc) so it was a no brainer to go with ISCAT's audio that even though had it's fair share of crowd noise, it didn't have the louder, more specific sounds of a bar on it.
As it turned out, our video benefited from the two sources and angles because when the obstructions occurred on ISCAT's video, I could cut to mine and vice versa. Ultimately, it was that I had ISCAT's audio that was really the key because worse than ambient crowd noise of a bar is the sound of a drunk guy loudly trying to impress some young ladies
With ISCAT and I taking care of the two angle video capture, Ken took pretty sweet photos that he allowed me to photoshop, use as video thumbnails and post.

Is it just me, or have others noticed that Haley seems to be more 'engaged' musically with her new keyboardist, Jacob? She's been looking over at him more than in the past. Personally, I like his sound. Somehow it's more funky, with more bass and a stronger beat. Maybe more like what will be on the album?

No, it is not just you, I got the same vibe. I noticed, they seem to be having fun and feeding off each other musically. More engaged? not sure of the exact word but it is fun and more "funky".
And thanks to Tusk, ISCAT and Ken for the effort on the videos (plus a lot of others here for more). A LOT of work and I really enjoy coming here to see updates (host Miguel). It has made my day more than once.

I agree, Haley seems to really connect with him and I like his style of playing. He also adds some beatboxing and vocals, which are nice touches, especially since he is the only musician. He comes off as an experienced stage musician, which he is. I was critical of some of Quinton's work on her recent radio tour, and for me Jacob is a better fit with Haley.
