RE: The Better Era
I listened to all the songs except Better and Cake in a country bar near my work. Not the best of listening conditions. Songs are 50 cents each, but since Better is a new album, it's $1 each, so I basically paid the same as buying it on iTunes to get a first listen LOL
Understand I'm listening in a bar, so I'm going to miss a lot of nuance that I might hear better on the album on a good stereo
Impressions.
The two song I'm most anticipating, "Listen" and "I Belong to You" are absolutely gorgeous, I'm so excited for fans to hear "Listen", it could be THE hit of the album IMO
LIWFF is also nice, there's a snare drum at the beginning I didin't expect, but Harry was right, strings and instrumentation enhance the song, Haley's vocals strong and clear
When we saw the pictures of them recording at Westwood studio, we didn't see the presence of strings, so I'm thinking that might be one of the main additions to the songs, well placed, and gives good atmosphere.
Of the other new songs, Behave and Talkin' About are standouts for me, Behave is sort of R&B while Talkin' About is Funky "Said Love the Funk...that's what I'm Talkin' about"
Good or Bad doesn't have the 'new' ending, of course, since Haley and Jacob just came up w/ it for SXSW while the songs for the album have already been recorded and in the final stages of production.
The other songs I'll have to listen again, in better environment as to hear any nuance.
Over all.... a very strong offering, at least four if not five very strong songs. It'll be interesting to hear them in album order if that helps enhance the songs more (album order is immensely important to how an album sounds overall)

RE: The Better Era
Good to hear Tusk, glad there are some standouts! I'm excited for next week.
I "check in" the app to a bar nearby but couldn't leave work. So a bunch of people heard Haley's album over the loud speakers

RE: The Better Era
tldr; my preview wherein I reveal few details because I couldn't hear the songs clearly.
After two unsuccessful forays at lunch, I stopped at a burger-and-beer place on the way home. There were two guys in work shirts at the bar. The bartender appeared, and I ordered a burger and a beer from her.
I then wandered over to the TT box. It looked like I struck out again, I just saw "Listen Up!" and Idol tunes. "Great," I thought, "$15 for a burger and beer for nothing." After I was served, I went back to the box. This time I noticed half of the "Better" album cover sticking out of the side.
I swiped my credit card and chose a few of the tunes I hadn't heard -- the TT box would pop up a box after every selection recommending non-Haley songs. I would have to hit the corner "x" to close it before choosing another Haley song. So I picked some songs and returned later to pick a few more.
The volume was low and the acoustics weren't the best -- tile floors and chatter from new patrons (there were eventually four at the bar and another six or so at the dining tables).
Because of the acoustics and my less-than-perfect hearing, I couldn't make out distinct instruments or most of the words. My initial reaction was that the songs sounded softer than those on "Listen Up!" But that could be because of the volume they were being played at.
No one seemed to react to the music. That made me think the songs might be good candidates for piped music.
Haley has said "I belong to you" is one she and several people really like. I think it might strike a wider chord. On most of the songs I heard Haley's voice emphasizing words but they came across more as tones in that environment. But the words, "I belong to you" rang clear in the same way her voice does in CHFIL.
Speaking of which, I also played CHFIL to see if it would get a crowd reaction. I didn't notice one, and went back to the TT box to put some cash in to play "Check Please." I thought one of the workers was going to the restroom, but he came up to me and asked if I was the one who played "this song" (CHFIL). He had never heard that version before and wanted to know who sang it.
I played "Check Please" last because Tusk had mentioned on Twitter that it was softer and hard to hear in the environment he was in. I had moved to a spot closer to the door and heard it more clearly than the earlier songs I had played. It has a steady rhythm to it that made me think of "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" though it sounds nothing like that song.

Did they change the production on Listen...or is it pretty much the same from the commercial?
No way to comment on production from listening on bar speakers....
I don't know if it's because I've been anticipating it, but even in poor conditions in a bar, the hairs on my arms stood right up as soon as the song started.... the First half of the song... I just really really love, psychedelic and dreamy. What you hear in the commercial is the second half
Haley's been a posting dynamo, 4 Instagrams today. I went to one to post that I'd heard the album and that I LOVED "Listen" and "I Belong To You" , then Haley posted the clip from the documentary on Instagram a few minutes after I pressed send

Ello earthlings! In honor of national #EarthDay, here's an official trailer for James Cameron's documentary, "Years Of Living Dangerously," featuring my song, "Listen." I wrote this tune (along with BETTER) about four years ago in Santorini, Greece with my friends Anders Grahn & Maria Marcus (specifically for this doc.) It's important we educate ourselves on the harsh conditions our planet is facing & learn how we alter our actions to help save it!
You can #LISTEN to the full track 1 WEEK FROM TODAY when it debuts on my album,
#BETTER

TV on the Radio: Listen to New Tracks from Idol's Kris Allen, Haley Reinhart, Fantasia, Pia Toscano and More!
Quote:HALEY REINHART, “BETTER”
Season 10’s third-place finisher follows up the breakout success of her Extra Gum ad — yep, her rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” cracked the Yop 20 of Billboard’s AC chart — with the bangin’ title track from her sophomore set. The Slayer’s husky growl explodes on a retro, horn-infused chorus in which she gets her groove back by giving the kiss-off to a do-wrong lover. Spoiler alert: You’re unlikely to find anything better coming to radio anytime soon. Programmers, recognize!
