Ruben Den Boer and Victor Pool = Vicetone

Vicetone is a Dutch DJ and production duo formed by Ruben Den Boer (born January 22, 1992) and Victor Pool (born July 9, 1992), from the Dutch city of Groningen. In 2013, they were voted into the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list for the first time at 60th as a new entry

Both listeners of electronic music since childhood, Victor and Ruben met at 15 years of age in school, where they shared their musical tastes and different songs they heard. Influenced by artists like Eric Prydz and Swedish House Mafia, they began to produce their own music.

They release music through "Spinni' Records."

Spinnin' Records is a Dutch independent record label... Besides their main imprint, Spinnin' Records hosts approximately forty sub-labels, the majority linked to a specific artist. The label provides A&R, management, publishing and (digital) marketing for artists they have under contract.

Mechanical royalty rates paid to songwriters in the US from on-demand subscription streaming will rise by 44% over the next five years following a landmark ruling in the market.

...The ruling includes a significant increase in the overall percentage of revenue paid to songwriters from 10.5% to 15.1% over the next five years – the largest rate increase in CRB history.

In practical terms, that would mean a near-44% jump in royalties – for example, from $5,000 to $7,200.

...In addition, the CRB granted a late fee which will dramatically alter the licensing practices of digital music companies...

...The court also decided in our favor regarding a late fee which will force digital music services to pay songwriters faster or be subject to a significant penalty. The bottom line is this is the best mechanical rate scenario for songwriters in U.S. history which is critically important as interactive streaming continues to dominate the market.

Additionally, the CRB removed the Total Content Cost (TCC) cap, which the NMPA says will ‘give publishers the benefit of a true percentage of what labels are able to negotiate in the free market resulting in significantly higher royalties for songwriters’.

The CRB also increased the TCC rate resulting in the most balance between record label and publishing rates in the history of US mechanical licensing.

“CRUCIALLY, THE DECISION ALSO ALLOWS SONGWRITERS TO BENEFIT FROM DEALS DONE BY RECORD LABELS IN THE FREE MARKET. The ratio of what labels are paid by the services versus what publishers are paid has significantly improved, resulting in the most favorable balance in the history of the industry.”

This is an interesting comment on the article:

Geeez still along way from what I would even call fair! It's not that hard guys, streaming is the problem by any measure, giving our music away for pennies on the dollar and in most cases less then a penny, if everyone had to pay us 50% of all revenue taken in for our songs streamed not only is that fair, but would also encourage millions of listeners to buy the song out right for .99 cents give or take a quarter. Raise the streaming cost up and you will raise record sales up, now that is fair in any market!

Haley has spent a few days in Nashville w/ Clare Reynolds. I vaguely remembered there was an insta story in a sound booth, but today, Haley posted that they were basically recording at Clare's place, her cupboard, Haley's 'recording studio'

So, Haliens living near Nashville. This isn't a 'sure' thing AT ALL, Haley's friend & co-writer Clare Reynold's will be performing w/ her fellow Australian (they opened for Haley Better tour in LA) tomorrow & Haley's in Nashville w/ them too so.....

Turns out it was a good guess, because....
