Conversation renewed in the "Don't Know How to Love You" thread:

Here's the video Haley posted, I'm predicting, from a first run through, and they'll use a more polished performance for documentary

RE: Haley recording DKHTLY in Vienna
Originally I thought the "Project" was the rehabbing of the hotel and they were commemorating it in a documentary that they brought Haley in for BUT that's not the case and...

....this is where Haley's cosmic stars seem to always align.

From the pre-tour announcement at the Boston club comes this partial quote from Haley, "Haley states “LO-FI reflects my analog heart"

And this is of course a continuation of of what she did with What's That Sound. Analog to tape.

Here is what the "An Impossible Project" documentary is all about...IT'S VERY COOL!!!

Another exciting "tie-in" (for me) is that they are using 35MM film being provided by Kodak (Eastman Kodak) founded in my home city of Rochester NY. I would love for there to be a showing of the doc at the George Eastman House Dryden Theater. It's a perfect fit under the circumstances.

Also would love for Haley to be included in our summer Rochester International Jazz Fest. Last year PMJ was here for it.

Anyway, following her "analog heart" has opened up even more doors for our gal and THIS door will have potential for even greater international appeal.

And yes, I agree with Tusk. The REAL performance of the song will be on the official documentary and this was a run through based on her attire. If that's the case...I cannot wait!!!

Thanks for finding the kickstarter info. Ironic also that Kodak Film was used for a story about Polaroid. I'm hoping Haley's LoFi Tour has a stop near Rochester, NY as I will be in that area at the end of March and due to the venue leaked dates of 4/3 & 4/4 I have it somewhat confirmed that those are portions of a larger tour schedule, hopefully also stopping in Chicago and Minneapolis.

Maybe. They recorded the soundtrack for the documentary that weekend. It could be Haley will be seen performing other songs, but not DKHTLY. If that's the case, it's fantastic she thought to ask and they agreed

Quote:Haley Reinhart - an extraordinary performance, live from Südbahnhotel

[...]

This is as analogue as it gets, 100% live, in fact even unrehearsed. Sascha and Haley met for the first time just a couple of hours before this was recorded (in Südbahn's usually deserted White Ballroom). We shot it on 35mm as part of the documentary. The music was cut direct to disc, as well as recorded on analogue tape. The evening was hosted by Doc's Supersense and Facebook' Analog Research Lab.

On Youtube, you can see the entire, uncut version of the song. There will be more music from Haley in the film.

I've never seen a performance quite like this. Hope you like it. It's real.

warm regards,

Jens
