Umm -- I don't mean to offend anyone or hurt feelings, but I'm not quite sure that Haley is "scatting" that much in this recording. Perhaps I'm being too much of a purist/literalist here, but what she's largely doing is responding -- vocally mimic-ing what the trumpeter has played. It's not quite vocalese (what the vocal version of "Moanin'" is), but, to me, it's also not scatting which, to me is "on the spot" improv. (That, theoretically, is what the trumpet player was doing.)

Mind you, she did a fantastic job in singing what the trumpeter had played -- and, I suspect he was challenging her to see what kind of vocal chops she had. I also think she passed his test.

Wow what can I say damm, this woman is scating with the Trumpet player and you know there giving her respect. This is a prelude of what is t come .She has gotten so so good. Thank you for this little treat. So this is on u_tube,I wonder how many hits this will get once it catches on. By the way, what is figure 8 and IF? I think the tour gave her so much more experance.Doing Moanin and BATJ She gots her Jazz chops on.

My Alter Ego, I don't think anyone will be offended by someone giving an opinion. You are always very respectful & often my opinions change after hearing another perspective. I just wish there were more members to share ideas. This is a great forum, we just need more Haley fans to find this gem of a site.

Right about 9:43 in Haleys NOLA video - a guy says something in the audience....what do you think it is? I can't figure it out. A big part of the appeal of this video is the audience reaction - the ladies going..."AH-HA!" like, what are ya gonna do? lol

Yup, he obviousley says Sexy (something) like sexy legs or something that. I listen to this one constantly, the converstations in the background are funny, but the ladies yelling out from the audience starting at the musical conversation at the end...classic!!

Halien tweeter @glassperfection was tweeting about seeing Irvin Mayfield and his band last night. Apparently he gave her tickets and they hung out for a while (she had a pic with him) but I couldn't figure out the whole story. It was a little too cryptic for me.

I can only imagine how sweet this tune would sound live or in an HD recording.

I used to hit the French Quarter twice per year when I had business in NOLA and listen to music in those small venues. So, I am counting on Haley to do a "Return to Mayfield's" concert and I will be there. I love Casey's video and always imagined how great it must have sounded live...this is the intimate setting we all would love to attend to hear and see Haley.

If you think about her star power already...I posted that renduke youtube comment about NYC musicians who already knew her star power last June...she could have her own venue/club in NYC, NOLA, Chicago...
