Simon likes singers that growl
Quote:The Chicago portion of “The X Factor” auditions aired Wednesday night, and while the production team spent several wet days in April and May looking for talent at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, there was precious little to show for it.
...the standout of the Chicago auditions had to be Josh Krajcik. The sloppy-looking 30-year-old burrito maker had his mom drive him up from Columbus, Ohio, but, boy, did he deliver.
Krajcik simply killed Etta James’ “At Last,” showing off his raspy, growly chops and driving the crowd crazy and stunning the usually unflappable judge Simon Cowell.
“I always thought I wouldn’t be surprised again, Cowell said. “It always blows me away. You’re honest.”
Krajcik will be one to watch when the boot camp episodes begin next week.
As for local talent, there wasn’t much to see, but there’s always hope that there’s another Haley Reinhart or Lee DeWyze who didn’t a ton of screen time but is waiting to shine.
