Thanks Sisters, OR for a fun time. The Belfry theatre Rocks
Hmmm - well, I'm thrilled that Taylor's going to be there. Truly! He's Casey's "Keith" -- but it does mean that I may have re-evaluate an existential question that I had thought I'd put to rest several years ago.
Quote:MAE, I understand what you mean when you're talking about Quinton being a bit of a mystery, some songs he really nails it, while other times maybe not so much. Personally, I think he is very talented on the piano, I usually enjoy what he adds to the performance. Maybe there's a few songs he's not really up to speed on, which could explain some inconsistencies. He doesn't have quite the improvisational skills that Keith does. And yes, they REALLY need to get a new piano at Room 5, it's pretty old and basic. Casey really has assembled a pretty solid core of musicians, Jacob is insane on the sax, plus they are always just having so much fun on stage, which in turn makes for a great show. Also, we don't mention Zack, the clarinet player much here on HF. He's no slouch either.
And MAE, have a great time at the show this Sunday!
Yanni, thanks for the validation of that horrendous piano at Room 5. The poor thing has probably been played to death and it would cost less to replace it than to fix it. Frequently, putting something "out of its misery" is the merciful thing to do. For some reason, we know that about pets, no matter how difficult the decision may be, but when it comes to other things (or others??)...
Generally, I find Quinton to be competent on the piano, and there are times when he demonstrates some flashes of "aha" and does the kind of good stuff he played on the Great Bright Morning gig (above). And then there are times when, I don't know, maybe he's pursuing the diminished 11th (joking -- or maybe not) -- he just doesn't seem to know what to do. Actually I suspect there is something else at play, but since I'm "not up close and personal," we can't go there.
Yanni, you're right: Casey has assembled a good core --actually an incredibly good core. And, I believe you're right about Zach. I just haven't heard him much (sometimes in the vids, he's not captured well.)
While Casey's show tomorrow night will take my out of my typical routine/comfort zone, I'm excited to hear Casey, Jacob, and Taylor tomorrow.
**I have nothing to record on, with, so please don't expect videos from me. Sorry.
