Sounds like they're putting together a crew to promote her new single and, if all goes well, go on tour. I wonder if he has been rehearsing the single in preparation for this audition and believes it has a funky soul sound (edit: nope, see end of this post).

MD = Musical Director, I suppose. Sounds like an important position but he doesn't appear to have many professional credits to his name.

That's their marketing spin in trying to lure new artists. But I think in this case they have to prove their chops to Haley and her advisers. She already knows much of what they would teach novices. American Idol us a bit beyond this:

The role of Music Director is an interesting casting decision. It needs to be someone who is creative yet disciplined and able to command the respect of others. That can be a rare combination.

She was "slated to perform 30 dates across the country at small venues for 1,000 to 3,000 ticket holders" beginning as early as March.

Maybe they will plug Haley into that slot?
