Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” album and tour have her talking like a multimillionaire.

Swift earned $35.7 million with touring, album sales and publishing royalties last year, making her the music industry’s biggest moneymaker in 2011, according to Billboard magazine.

...Swift, the world’s top selling pop-country superstar, took the top honors, powered by her third album, “Speak Now,” and its accompanying tour, which jetted through Asia, Europe and North America. The tour grossed $88.5 million in the United States alone and netted Swift $29.8 million.

Unfortunately, such is the life of a musician. The saddest thing (at least to me) is that the more skilled (which equals more training) a musician is, unless you're someone like Itzhak Perlman, YoYo Ma, or Wynston Marsalis, the more diverse that individual will have to be to make a living.
