Good little interview! The one thing I couldn't look away from was Haley's teeth. Because of the angle of the shot they used I was focused on the way her two front teeth kind of stick out past the teeth next to them. I know, I notice weird stuff. LOL.

Lollapalooza 2013 Lineup Predictions Match Reality When It Comes To Giving Ladies Short Shrift

There's been nary a peep from Lollapalooza officials on the festival's 2013 headliners so far, but the internet has been kicking up plenty of rumors, predictions and wild guesses in the meantime. The official word on the lineup is expected sometime in April, but early speculation will at least hit the mark on one front: a definite lack of ladies rocking Grant Park come August.

Among the headliners "leaked" in an unverified stab at the lineup that came out last month, there were just four women total in the 19 bands mentioned -- and zero female-led groups. Women are all but absent in Consequence of Sound's predictions as well, save Fitz and the Tantrums, whose soul engine is powered by singer Noelle Scaggs.

While Time Out Chicago made some very smart predictions, the only female-led band floated was also the only act dismissed with an oblique jab: the Karen O-fronted Yeah Yeah Yeahs were considered not a "legitimate headliner on their own merits" (this despite the fact the band has headlined Europe's ATP fest, is scheduled for Coachella this year and was the first band from the West to play in China, headlining Beijing's Modern Sky Festival.)

The Chicago Reader did predict a Jessie Ware Lolla appearance, offering some hope others will see women like Ware —whose soulful singing and remix-friendly music would be an easy fit with a Lolla spot — as viable draws for major fests.

If predictions are short on all-female or female-fronted acts, look no further than the history of past lineups themselves. A peek at Lolla 2012's Friday schedule from showed of the some 40 bands playing (excluding the Kids Stage), there were just three female performers and only a smattering more that had female leads or co-leads (Metric, Die Antwood).

The most puzzling thing about Lollapalooza's trend of coming up short on female artists is that the men aren't winning hands-down when it comes to album sales, tour grosses and fan bases. And as it stands, the festival's rumored 2013 lineup is bloated with plenty of male-fronted snoozer acts; 2011's performance by Cee-Lo was among the lamest in recent memory. On the other hand, the lesser-known Le Butcherettes positively slayed in their Lolla slot, proving even established acts can be bested by talented newcomers.

Should Lolla bookers run dry of other excuses, they could always argue Pitchfork is snapping up all the female talent. The competing July festival in Union Park doesn't seem to have as much trouble finding awesome women to headline.
