RE: Michelle Chamuel
Here's a great interview with yahoo (Lyndsey Parker conducted it, but you don't see her.) I just find her incredibly charming in an awkward way.

"Can you tell us about yourself."
"no."

And she also has video from a performance of "The Fall"..which has snuck up on me and become my favorite song on her album.

RE: Michelle Chamuel
Forgot to mention, one of the things Michelle talks about with The Voice is how supportive they were, and how they let her dictate her own story.

She's an interesting, and very different person. She chose to not talk about her sexuality or her family history (which wasn't brought up until top 3) and The Voice respected that an allowed the viewers to get to know her on the show in a way that she was comfortable with. It's another one of those things that I contrast with Haley's situation and it simply irks me.

Here's another little interview.

It's a song on the album. I've probably mentioned it here, but I've mentioned a lot. It would be easy to miss a song. Big Grin

I would say "The Fall" is a good representation of her album. But this is the acoustic version. A fuller version is here:

I'm partial to "The Fall" and "Golden."

It's definitely electronic pop..but there's a lot of other musical influences in there. Some of her songs can be a little cutesy, but I think that's just who she is.

One thing to keep in mind is that she was working with Theo Katzman and Tyler Duncan. "Go Down Singing" (not on the album, but was a single she released) was a song they wrote for Demi Lovato, who didn't end up singing it. Michelle had recorded the demo before The Voice, and got attached to the song, so after it wasn't picked up by Demi, she took it and changed it a bit. (I actually think that song is a good theme for Haley's Idol journey. Probably far more than Michelle's.)

Another song, "Money" was their's. She changed it up a bit lyrically, but there are other versions of the song out there.

I think "Golden" and "The Fall" is a better representation of Michelle's pop music as opposed to the collaborative effort that some of the other songs have. The guys have a certain sound, and certain influences I can hear that are a bit different from Michelle's. Of Course, Michelle giggling her way through "Money" in her earlier performances was a bit of a give away. Tongue

RE: Michelle Chamuel
So I saw Michelle yesterday. Smile (Because she..unlike my other favorite singer..likes to perform on the East Coast. Dodgy Tongue )

I caught this video of her covering Robyn's "Dancing On My Own." Pretty good audio (except when I thank a small child for handing me a pamphlet.) Not so great video. (Apparently you cant zoom with older iphones?) Anyway..it's the first time I've done this so...

Michelle also just needs to admit she's highly influenced by sweedish pop. Tongue

But I was so excited that she sang it because I saw a little clip of her singing it and haven't heard the whole thing. (I do wish she had sung "Baby One More Time" though..)

Also..the difference between her live and on video is staggering..it's like the camera doesn't catch parts of her head voice or something. (These differences make me excited for Haley. I will see her live sometime soon. And hopefully not Haley's definition of soon.)

The other songs she did were from her album. (Face The Fire, Give You, Golden, Lottery, Rock It, The Fall). I particularly liked the slowed down more acoustic version of "Give You." The host of the festival had a fangurl reaction to her after she was finished, which was pretty cute too.

RE: Michelle Chamuel
So..as a result of being a fan of Michelle, I've listened to music from her band prior to her experiences on The Voice. (A little bitter sweet because much of is fantastic..and the reviews for this band tend to be incredible. Although she does still work with many of the members.)

Anyway, I ran into a youtube video of a few performances from the band. There aren't too many great videos out there because it was a little behind the smart phone times..

I also found this article. Once again, a very interesting look at the music industry from an independent band (at probably that band's peak..it was right around the time of their Lollapalooza performance. ). Honestly a really great read.

RE: Michelle Chamuel
Michelle played at Sonic Lunch again this year. (ZZ Ward played there last year too, and The Voice contestant Joshua Davis also performed this year.) Ann Arbor loves Michelle. Tongue

She played most of her songs from her album, and I think she did a performance of "Dancing With Myself." Although the fan that records those videos (she's incredible with them) hasn't updated that one yet.

Michelle's gotten so much better with her bass guitar. It amazed me in the first place that she was all "I'm gonna learn this two weeks before my tour and play it.." I guess some people can do that. But she's gotten significantly better since then. There's a few mistakes here and there, but overall how much more complicated she's made what she's playing is noticeable.

Here's "Give You" which was one of my favorites from the New Jersey show. I like the song recorded, but I love her acoustic version live. Plus, this video is one of the few that really does a good job at catching all of her pitch in her headvoice. It's really stunning to hear live, but usually videos don't catch how clear it is.

I'll only post this one, there are other videos on the channel if anyone is interested. Smile

RE: Michelle Chamuel
Michelle is doing a series of Free concerts through Aloft Hotels (I think she's doing this through the American Eagle Artist thing), she's already done Cleveland and Minnesota, but if you are in the area, I suggest checking her out. (Obviously Tongue) I wish she was doing one around here, as this is likely a very intimate setting where she is, IMO, at her best.

Unfortunately there hasn't been too many good videos from this series.

RE: Michelle Chamuel
Michelle did a surprise performance in Bryant Park and someone was nice enough to catch the whole concert on video.

Video is great. The audio is clear, but..as what can happen to her, some of the sound just doesn't show up. The instrument sound isn't that great, and the top of her pitch on her head voice just doesn't come in clear. (Has anyone noticed this in video of other performers. I know people say that the audio live is always better..but I wonder if this is part of the reason, because the video just doesn't catch all of the sound.)

So, here's the playlist Smile
