RE: Connections -- Haley's Musical Buddies
Started my day seeing Morgan James at the Chateau Ste Michelle winery, ended it seeing Blake Lewis up the street at The Jet. A HUGE leap in types of performances to say the least!! I thoroughly enjoyed each experience.
I got the opportunity, with Greg, to hopefully come up w/ some material for Morgan and will post those when ready. On the other hand, I did a quick and dirty video of Blake's performance of "Message in a Bottle/Lovesong" Medley, performed w/ his band, Mother of Pearl, featuring Christa Wells, who I regret not having recorded, she was very good, excellent voice, I was told she's known in Jazz circles around Seattle, will have to keep an eye our for her
Here's Blake's video, lots of energy and fun

Had a blast on this west coast run of shows! Thank you for sold out shows, sold out merch, and all the new fans who came to meet me. Thank you for supporting NEW music!! (Photo: Greg Williams)
I've sent her links to the vids of the first two songs of the show, she's on her way back to the east coast, said she'll watch the vids at the airport.
It was probably the best, most fun, most entertaining Saturday I've had in a very long time

@morganajames perfoms songs from her album, Hunter, to a sold out crowd at #chateaustemichelle who gave her 2 Standing ovations. New fans gained and selling out of merchandise when it was all said and done, not too shabby

Apparently their car broke down in Portland why she hasn't had a chance to look at the video, but said it's OK to post it anyway
watch in 1080P
as usual Tusk, you shoot these vids so well. I guess you are a hunter also.

RE: Connections -- Haley's Musical Buddies
Thanks
I have to admit to being a bit nervous, I really don't have a lot of experience with video, everything I know about video I basically learned on the fly making Haley's videos. Basically, I went to "Haley University" .
My background is mostly photoshopping, some illustration, some painting and some design work. I'd like to think my strength is in graphic design, but not in the practical sense that I'd ever gotten paid for it. I did learn a bit of video editing with Premiere, way back when, when I thought I could make my career in art. Also, I had taken a couple years in 3-D animation. Although alot of 3D animation is in the modeling and texturing of characters, you do learn useful things that can translate to what I'm doing now. Lighting, focus, saturation and contrast, framing of a shot, balancing the particulars inside of the shot. So I guess in learning how to build a character in 3d, when making a 'movie' with the characters, did give me something to work with when I decided that I wanted to do more with my video than just take them from my SD card and slap then on Youtube.
Those things were a handy foundation, but if you look at my channel, you can see the evolution of what I've learned through the process over time, that the bulk of what I use and apply now, I learned from trial and error, in an effort to represent Haley the best I can, with the resources available to me.
As far as Morgan, she was sweet throughout, there really was no pressure. When the opportunity came around, I expected that there'd be some instruction, what we're allowed, what expectations, what outcome. We were ready to do what it took to earn this opportunity. As it turned out, Morgan gave us no instruction. When I asked, Morgan beamed a warm smile and said, "Do what you do"....those were our instructions
What was especially cool, and you can see it in the Hunter video, Morgan made sure to 'act' for my camera, she was aware of where I was situated and made sure I had something to video. That walk towards my side, every once in a while smiling my direction. The woman's a pro and gave us every opportunity to have something to work with
I do not exagerate when I say the experience could not have been any better or gone more smoothly, literally everything was perfect, in fact I think we got more from the experience than we should have.
Our primary instruction from the venue was, even though we had access, we were limited to where we could shoot from, the important thing is, we could not be obstacles for the audience, we could not be in the way of the acts. As it was, the people at the show, the security in our area, were all very, very nice. Everything that day was perfect
