RE: American Idol 2014
Yea, I was a little upset MK was in the bottom 3 first week. Especially with Dexter, CJ, and Ben around. But better contestants than her have been there. (Haley..) I've developed somewhat of a soft spot for her. She just has a pretty, simple, pure voice.
I'm opposite of you. I love Jess' voice. And I hope she continues to stay down the direction she was in this week (southern Rock..) instead of country. Or she could just sing Stevie every week. That would work too.
I think Emily's problem is her taste isn't what she is. I've personally got that problem vocally. I prefer voices like Haley's, Janis', Bria Kelly's, Jacquie lee, Allison iraheta...basically that gutty passionate roar..filled with soul and heart. Whereas vocally I'm must more similar to Fiona Apple/jewel. I think with Emily..it's in delivery. She likes spunky feisty singers..but she's more sweet. You know..she doesn't have that "yang" Keith was talking about and she should probably accept it and play to her strengths instead of trying to be something she's not.
Malaya just has no control of her voice.
Majesty is a doll. She's a lot of fun on stage. Her voice is very good, and she injects a lot of personality into what she's doing. She's also very current. In fact, if marketed well, she could be a successful performing artist. (She won't be marketed well though.)
I like Sam and Alex the best of the guys. With Alex, I genuinely enjoyed him last week. And I'm harsh on the WGWG..but he's one with talent. So I can respect it. Sam..he's good. Simple. Pure. I don't quite have the soft spot for him that I have for MK (in fact, I don't really enjoy his voice as much.) But I also am okay with him winning. (Kind of how I felt about Scotty, but with Scotty I actually thought he was top 5 talent wise. In fact, I probably would have put him third behind Pia and Haley.)

RE: American Idol 2014
From "Wetpaint":
Kristen O'Connor was the first member of the American Idol Top 13 to be eliminated this season. Apparently, the Wild Card pick’s rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s “Beautiful Disaster” was seen as a disaster by the majority of Idol viewers.
Kristen’s lack of confidence on stage was palpable throughout her Wednesday night performance, with typically forgiving judge Jennifer Lopez even commenting on it during her critique.
“My advice would be to stop thinking a little bit,” J.Lo said. “I know this show is a lot of pressure, but you need to start thinking about what you know, not what you’re afraid is going to happen — what the song is about, how you want to come off, the fact that you deserve to be here. That’s what you need to do when you get up to sing.”
Interestingly enough, we have a hunch that if Kristen had been on Idol in its early days she actually may have made it further than Week 1 of Live Shows since she very much skewed in the direction of modern day pop singer.
Since those early days, however, the show has undergone a major transformation with the real standouts now typically being the exact opposite of cookie-cutter
Anyone remember Andrew Garcia’s slowed-down version of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” or Haley Reinhart’s “House of the Rising Sun”? We still get chills thinking about those performances. Of course, few could forget the trailblazer Blake Lewis making his mark on Idol by beat-boxing well-known numbers.
In the end — and we know it might sound harsh — but we think Kristen was far too vanilla to leave a lasting impression on the Idol viewers. They have become accustomed to seeing edgy performances in which the hopefuls take a song and make it their own, and they want more of that.
