That Fairbridge property doesn't have very good reviews. Someone who immediately checked out said the Crowne Plaza down the road was a deal at twice the price ($89).

Keep in mind, hotels cater to business travelers so their best rates are usually on the weekends (unless there is some big event in town).

One thing that really surprised me is, it seemed there were a lot more smokers in Chicago (More than LA or NY or even Vegas), so make sure you request a non smoking room if the nicotene smell is a problem. I forgot to request that and the hotel room I was given reeked of cigarette smoke. I tried to deal with it, but could only last 5 minutes before I had to request a room change.

Even the 'non smoking' room, I had a hotel towel on the desk chair that I sat on after a shower, when I got up, the under side of the towel was saturated yellow from the nicotene

Maybe it was a bad week, but almost every place I went, someone was smoking nearby, usually two or a group (although it wasn't the case during Lollapalooza....)

Wheeling on the other hand was a very nice, clean place everywhere I went. The community center where the Water Park is where Haley worked is also a very nice, clean, and well kept place. (Although Himm2's address has a quirk in it that confused my gps and I had to ask around before I could find his street....so consider that if we will be meeting there)

At first I thought having it on Mother's Day weekend would be a conflict but then I realized that if there was any day for Haley to come home for, it would likely be Mother's Day. I'll get some feedback from Harry tonight about the possibility of all this working out. So far the HOME bar has an open date for May 11. I think Haley may have an open invitation to sing the Anthem & God Bless America at Sox Park on a Sunday and for a game against her new "home" team - the powerhouse LA Angels - would be frosting on the cake. And since it would also be the two year anniversary of Haley's Hometown Celebration what better weekend than that? Mother nature promised me that she wouldn't rain on our parade like she did 2 years ago then.
