Regarding demographics and followers...the younger crowd has no problem with using technology to get things for free. They have no qualms about getting whatever they want from the internet, because they feel it should be free if it is out there on the worldwide web.
My mid-20s son has volumes & volumes of DVDs and CDs burned of which he has paid nothing other than the software (probably borrowed too)/blank discs he invested in.
Interscope & 19 have the expertise and network to dissect the demographics that work for Haley. One of the problems with AI is that it has become a preteen & teen girl driven market, along with the +50 crowd. Haley has to have an appeal to young males that do not watch Idol, and yet they don't buy product either. So, there is a catch 22 with marketing her to the young crowd.
Tom gets us back to the main point: Her talent is undeniable and she made a great album. Time will reveal her to a wider market, and her overall star appeal will, in the long term, take her into more opportunities than other artists her age. Considering it took Adele years to reach the superstar status, this slow and steady path is a good one for Haley. The overnight, 15 minutes of fame, sensation is not the path we want Haley on.
The Ali event, Lolla, Carnegie Hall, national TV appearances all continue to build her portfolio and fan base. Interscope & 19 know the star quality they have in Haley. She may not light the charts on fire right out of the blocks...but this is a marathon not a sprint...Summer Olympic tie-in and JMHO.
