Bet the audio feed will solve the bass/drum distortion problem we've been having so your secret hidden camera will only have to record the video Tusk.

I assume many of the recordings are done with smart phones that evidently have very poor audio circuits. It certainly doesn't have to be that way. I've used a 25 year old low end camcorder that has no problem with loud bass. Anyone know of a smart phone that can record audio properly or are they all crap.

Smartphones aren't the problem...wanting to be very close to the stage next to the heavy vibrations coming from the speaker banks will just about always distort the heavy bass sounds of even the best internal camera microphones.

Looks like the way to go is the Nokia 808 PureView for those that can afford it. There are some impressive concert videos that use it.

When I saw Casey, I used a flip camera and even though I was right up by the speakers I got perfect sound!

Good information. I was thinking that too many people are using phones to record instead of devices whose primary function is recording.

I used a JVC Everio GZ-EX210 at both LA and Lolla . Didn't want to spend too much... it's supposed to be Full 1920 x 1080 HD, but I don't think the pic is as good as I've seen from others using a camera phone. Maybe I have the settings wrong.
The actual video files are huge, I had to really reduce them for YT. Also, at Lolla, I was probably approaching the zoom limit for the camera so that it wasn't as HD clear as it could have been at normal zoom.

One function the camera has I thought was interesting:
•zooming microphone changes audio focal point to match the recorded picture
(meaning if you zoom in, the microphone's range also zooms into what you are focusing/zooming on)

It also has wifi capabilities, but the reviews of that are poor.

^ I believe we saw a Stefano video from Carnegie Hall, albeit it was rather short. It looked like it came from one of the upper boxes along the side.

I will be totally disappointed if we never get a video from Carnegie Hall with Haley performing. Yet, I am unable to fly to NY and attend. However, I am willing to contribute $10 to Tusk's Spy Camera Fund (TSCF). ...seriously!

I loved that and now I have a higher resolution version. It's got me thinking about trying to make the show. I checked seating availability and was surprised at how many seats were available in all sections.

Me too, but with a professional jazz orchestra I think Deedles Blues will wail.
