The 2nd single versus a Fall Tour versus nothing

Let me chime in on this topic. I am alway hesitant to give my opinions because opinions abound & are not necessarily very well received in the forum universe.

First of all, I would hope that it is not Haley's primary goal to become famous. Fame can be so fleeting & comes with so many pitfalls. She has put out a quality album & no amount of noteriety can take that away from her. Wanting her to become a household name is not a bad thing, but I would hope we are not trying to legitimize her by how many records she sells or how many tour dates she books.

Secondly, I feel that Haley is having the time of her life. Through her music she had been able to travel extensively & meet may people. She has done several photoshoots, made an awesome video & performed at some very high profile events. Even her AI experience allowed her the chance to perform in large arenas & experience that energy & love.

Finally, would it be so bad if she just ends up being a working entertainer. Hopefully she is budgeting her money wisely so she doesn't feel the pinch during the slow times. Before Haley sang with Curtis Mayfield I had never heard of him & he is playing Carnegie Hall. In fact, there are alot of respected musicians & performers who live their lives in relative obscurity while doing what they love. Haley's parents managed survive & raise a family while instilling their love of music onto their children...they weren't rich but they were loving & happy.

^ Agreed Cherelann. And either way, big time or not as big, it's all good. It's so cool that so many people are anxious about what's going to happen, and so many good things have been happening, and still are. We might as well just enjoy the ride and all the fun stuff that's been coming with it. It all still looks very positive at this point from where I sit. There's no hard evidence of anything other than the fact that Interscope is taking a slow patient approach for growing her popularity and exposure, which we have all agreed before was the best approach for the likes of our Ms. Haley.

There's so much buzz going on about the decline of Haley and her album. I prefer to live in the now, nobody really knows what can happen, and as long as I've been following her she continues to appease us with little surprises. Haley really believes in this being her destiny singing. And I can't help but recall what she said during AI time, when she said she wanted to be a visionary and an inspiration to people around the world, and she certainly has done. We all want her to succeed and be a huge star but I'm a firm believer that she is where she is supposed to be in life. So I choose to enjoy her music one day at a time day by day, this is all were guaranteed. IMO

And the fact that she has some of the highest numbers of views of just about any recent new performer to the scene. I just wish that would all translate to huge sales ...

I can't help but wonder if YouTube and its imitators aren't yet another blessing and curse: on the one hand she has many viewers (blessing) for something people don't have to pay for (curse).

My humble opinion, "Free" was just a very poor choice for a first release. There are plenty of better options in LU and for the folks at interscope to have missed that and now give haley a hard time about a second release........is really irritating!

I can't help but wonder if someone at Interscope was surprised by the quality of "Free" and declared it to be the single before the others were created. Or maybe they debated between that and "Oh My" since they brought B.o.B in for OM and were going to use it on 90210.

Quite a dichotomy between the two songs.

Maybe there were two camps and to save face the "free" camp isn't going to give "oh my" a chance to prove them wrong. Who is gonna be the first to say a truce?

(Post #12) LovinDa...it's been less than 3 months since Haley's debut album has been released...LDH brings things full circle from the "the earth is dying" horror, back to it's gravitational equilibrium...once again calm has been restored. Thanks for the those insights and all you do...

(Post #13) Midnight...Haley believes 100% in what she is doing. She has spoken about this to other young people, inspiring them. You, my Halien friend, believe in her 100%...her inspiration is contagious. No matter what anyone says, predicts, laments, advises...Haley is the total package...100% pure Haley! Even if she only had a handful of fans, she would still be magnificent, because it is not based on the size of the audience. Very nice post...one day at a time...

I have finally stopped lurking in the shadows and come into the light. I agree with your opinion Cherelann. And thank you for sharing it! The only thing that should matter is this: is Haley happy? I think she is. She is doing what she loves and has put out an amazing album. And just some food for thought....maybe just maybe, Haley is not in as big a rush as her fans are for her "Stardom" and all that it brings. Of course I could be wrong, but it seems more important to me that she constructs a lasting career rather than being just another "flash in the pan" singer. Plus having her music in movies and on TV is quite an accomplishment that some "Stars" haven't achieved. I think Ms. Reinhart will be around for many many years making quality music!

Free did pretty good, IMO. You can't call it a flop or a smash, and it's laid the groundwork for single #2. I just heard it in the movie theater this past weekend, I heard it multiple times on the radio during it's high point, and they use it for the elimination song in SYTYCD which is a very popular show.

They (Interscope) will squeeze every drop they can out of this album, Jimmy himself said it's very expensive to make an album and build a new artist. She will be riding it for a long time- Oh My! could have been their plan for NEXT summer for all we know...Haley said she hopes Hit The Ground Runnin' will be a single, they could have multiple singles planned. Undone is starting to remind me of a wild fire spreading, with all of the comments I've read.

Anyway, I cannot believe that Haley got so much- a chance to take her time and write her own material is so huge - and the album is so well reviewed, that Interscope/19/Ole or who ever will let it die on the vine. For all we know that Vegas trip was planned because "they" know Listen Up! is about ready to 'SPLODE!!!!
