This is one of my favorites that the Beach boys did from pet sounds but there's a sad story to it it goes like this. Brian Wilson is deaf in one ear due to the abuse and the beatings that he took from his father when he was just a boy. In my room was like a place of solitude and refuge where he could go and not be afraid of anything if you listen closely to the words you can feel the way it relates to his circumstances. Beach boys had some sort of an influence on Haley is far as the harmonization goes, I know she was highly influenced by the Beatles because of their harmony skills at one time the Beatles said that they were encouraged and inspired by the Beach boys for their harmony skills.

Technically, the Beatles' "Rubber Soul" Inspired Wilson to create "Pet Sounds" which in turn challenged the Beatles to create "Sgt Peppers"...

The real catalyst for Pet Sounds was the U.S. version of The Beatles' album Rubber Soul, which was released that December in time for the Christmas market.


I really wasn't quite ready for the unity. It felt like it all belonged together. Rubber Soul was a collection of songs ... that somehow went together like no album ever made before, and I was very impressed. I said, "That's it. I really am challenged to do a great album."

Wilson found Rubber Soul was filled with all-original songs. Inspired, he rushed to his wife and proclaimed, "Marilyn, I'm gonna make the greatest album! The greatest rock album ever made!".

The Beatles, for example, have said that Pet Sounds was a major influence on their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Paul McCartney has repeatedly named it as one of his favorite albums (with "God Only Knows" as his favorite song) – completing a circle begun by The Beatles' influence on Wilson.

ABBA's Ulvaeus and Andersson have stated that both the Beatles AND the Beach Boys (specifically, Brian Wilson) were their primary influences...

among the popular songs on this album are

Tusk I thought I posted this conversation but apparently it didn't show up nevertheless you could do a small writeup documentary on ABBA? Seeing that your writing skills and spelling skills are far superior to mine plus you know a lot more about them than I do they were just a boy girl band that did sing some good pop music in their time thank you for doing this right up for this form.

If there are two groups I know a fair amount of it's the Beatles and ABBA, numbers one and two of my favorite groups of all time

Unfortunately, ABBA is still not really given their due in the US despite monstrous popularity all over the rest of the world (and inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame), especially with the recent interest of their movie and musical, "Mamma Mia".

They certainly aren't considered 'Rock' by most as per your thread title and unfortunately are considered "Disco" even though their ten year career started before Disco and continued even after Disco. They were more'Pop' than anything.... They just never registered in the States.

This was one of their more "Rock" oriented songs: "Rock Me"



"So Long" was considered rock for them


and "Does Your Mother Know" is fairly rock oriented and the most popular of ABBA's songs that didn't feature the girls



"Hey Hey Helen" has some heavy rock chords going for it

Haley was not all that recognized up till this point then after her singing Bennie and the Jets she would be definitely in the contenders box. I know it changed the game for me because I had been watching her and I was interested I wasn't totally on her bandwagon up until Bennie and the Jets then I was totally blown away and convinced that she was in it to win it and she was just more than a pretty face pretty much since how it all began for her she brought the whole package to the show as what the judges said were all valid and Haley was not cast off as being fraudulent enjoy the song of from Elton and then from Hales. I'm going to post a few more songs from Elton John from one of his earlier albums which is called (Tumbleweed connection)

That was cool listening to the original song and Haley singing it again. Haley really did slay that song! That girl sure is a rocker chick !!! and a jazz baby too.... And that's why we are such big fans of hers.
